Would it be a tight fit for a family of four (Me,DH,DD12,DD15) to stay in a Cat 6, or would it be a better choice to book 2 Cat. 11's or 2 Cat 9's (depending on price) instead? :grouphug: Has anyone done both options-if so what is your opinion?

For our family of 5 , I decided on a CAT 7 and a CAT 11 across the hall from each other. Have never cruised so I'm hoping that it works out ok.

Didn't think about having a Cat. 7 across from Cat. 11. I did look into a Cat 6 across from a Cat. 11, but my DD's would rather be in the same cabin with us or have connecting rooms just in case the ship rocks too much and they get scared.

My 3 will be 12,8, and 4. I went back and forth about whether to do it this way. Talked to others' that have been on a cruise(this is our first),and I figure the youngest will probably end up in our room at night. For me there was the added space of the rooms, extra bathroom, more places to put your luggages and stuff. I'm bringing a baby monitor too, so I can hear what's going on over there all the time.

I'd definitely get 2 rooms. With 2 daughters, you'll appreciate the extra bathroom. Plus, with 2 rooms, you'll have more space and privacy.

We did the Wonder a few weeks ago and I had the same concerns. We have three boys, 16, 13 and 12. So I thought...the DS12 will probably end up wanting to stay with us in our room, and it ended up he was having so much fun that we couldn't pull him out of the Lab at midnight!!!! :goodvibes Seriously, we got 2 cat 11 rooms (not connecting) and it worked out perfectly. We were hardly ever there, but to change for dinner and sleep. To access your kids room, they give you a "blank" key. So you basically carry around two keys with you. Very easy. The rooms were just a place to drop your stuff and go have fun! :)

I didn't realize they give you a blank key? Great that makes me feel better.

We cruised last year in a category 6 (verandah cabin) with our 2 DSs who were ages 16 and 13 at the time.

It took a good 24-36 hours to get down a pattern of walking and where we each put our stuff down when we'd enter the cabin, before we stopped bumping into each other. lol

After that, it wasn't too bad, and we were on a 10-night cruise. (Courtesy of Hurricane Frances).

However, for next year's cruise we've booked the same exact cabin for DH and I, and have booked the category 11 cabin directly across the hall from us for DSs. They will be 18 and 15 at the time, so that's why we're comfortable with them being across the hall, rather than in a cabin next door with a connecting door.

Your DDs are a bit younger than our DSs, so I think I'd go with the connecting cabins.

P.S. If you do end up all in 1 cabin, here's what we did that made things a bit easier:

We each had our own "zone" in the cabin where our clothes, souvenirs, and other items were kept, so that nothing would get lost, and no one's things would get confused with anyone else's.

For example, DS16 had the left-hand side of the desk area, including the cabinets that went up the left side, to keep his clothes and things in. He had the left side of the desk itself to lay down his room card, sunglasses, etc.

DS14 had the right side of the desk area. That's where his clothes were, and that's where he stored all of his things too.

Then that blue "chest" in the middle of the wall was where I kept most of MY things, and I used the top of the chest as a landing place for my sunglasses, room key, watersafe, etc.

DH used the dresser over near the bathroom. He's diabetic and had a lot more "things" to keep track of, and that's also where the cabin steward had placed the Sharps container for the used syringes.

We all used the closet for our dress clothes and shoes.

This really worked out well because when we'd all walk into the cabin together, we each had our own space, even if it was only a 1' square surface :teeth:

The privacy curtain was nice too. When we'd go to bed, we'd pull the curtain over most of the way, and it gave some privacy while we slept.

Have a great cruise!! :sunny: :boat:

On our 04 Thanksgiving Western (our 4th DCL sailing) we booked a 6 and an 11 for us and DDs 14 and 12 and liked it so much we rebooked the same way for 05 Thanksgiving Western and 06 10 night x-mas sailing......the price was within 150.00.....
