We were considering upgrading (if there is actually space available) an existing category 5 reservation to a category 3. We liked the idea of the concierge service along with the extra room. Based on an old brocure we have it looked like about $1000 more per adult. Does this seem accurate? Also, what are people's thoughts on this?

We have an infant, as well as another child, so the extra room seems tempting. With the thought being we may end up spending more time in the room. Our last cruise we did a category 6, but only had the one child.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks-

Lee

Lee,

We thought about doing the same since we have 2 adults and 2 children (a 6 year old and a 2 year old). The cost depends on the time of the year. For October, the cost for a Cat. 5 is $3465 using a discount code. Since Cat. 1-3 are never discounted, the cost will be $6980 (roughly double) for the same cruise. Neither of these prices include insurance or transfers.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Categories 1, 2 and 3 book quickly, so if you decide to upgrade, do it soon! Good luck! We had a Cat 3 last June (2 adults, 2 teenagers) and loved the extra space.

If you decide against it but are still interested, ask at check-in. We went from a 4 to a 3 for $800 (4 in the room). This was in January when prices wer very good so this may change. But, I think that they typically have a much cheaper upgrade scale available on sail day. BUT...availability is always tight in a 3. We called several times to check if there was still room prior to sailing. We took our chances and got lucky.

Last October I upgraded from a cat 4 to a 3 at check-in, for approx. $650. We had already received a great FL resident discount, and with the extra $650 the total came to under $3200 for five people (2 adults, 2 kids, 1 infant). At whatever cost, it's definitely worth it!

we are in a cat.3 on the 4/20-4/27 cruise. does the concierge also book your the baby sitting?

Our baby was pretty little (7 months) so we didn't use the babysitting service. I don't think the concierge would have helped with that though; they advised us to sign up at the nursery early if we were interested.
