Cat 11 vs 8?

In looking at prices, I've found that we could get a cat 8 for $500 more than a cat 11. Is it worth it to have the extra space and view? Last time I had a verandah (cat 5), so the outside stateroom shouldn't be "as much" of a letdown? Am I correct in assuming the cat 8 would be just like the cat 5 I had, just w/o the verandah? And, anyone ever stay in deck 6 cat 8 rooms? Are they in a good location?

Thanks! ;)

You are correct that the cat. 5 is the same as a cat. 8 except no verandah.

I would agree the extra room and view would be helpful. I have never stayed in a cat. 8 to help you with location.

Hi Cali!

We're booked in a verandah cabin for our 7-night western cruise for next summer, but I have to say, we didn't start out this way. LOL Initially we were only going to do a 4-night cruise, in an inside cabin. DH and I took our very first cruise this past summer aboard a Royal Caribbean ship. We stayed in an inside cabin and even though I was nervous about it beforehand, we really were fine, once we got into the cabin itself.

How many people would you have in the Cat. 11?? They don't have the split bathrooms. Since we are a party of 4, we originally were thinking of a Cat. 10, for the extra space, and split bathroom.

Yes, a Cat. 8 would be similar to the Cat. 5 cabin you had, but without the verandah. Not sure about where on Deck 6 those would be though. We're on Deck 6, cabin #6042, and I like the look of this location because I wanted mid-to-forward and that's exactly where this cabin is. We were in a forward cabin on our RCI cruise and we really enjoyed the bit of motion we felt, it was very nice being "rocked" to sleep at night :p

As for whether an extra $500. is worth the extra space and view, we just paid an extra $840. to upgrade from a Cat. 9 to a Cat. 6 so we could have a verandah. I think it's entirely up to you. Like I said, I've sailed in an inside cabin and was fine with it. But that was my first cruise and had nothing else to compare it to.

Good luck with you decision!

We very much like our Cat 8 stateroom (6512). We liked it on our first cruise, second cruise, and will enjoy it again in Feb. #1 reason...it's quiet. Being in a forward area, there is not as much hallway traffic. The large porthole is great. For several reasons we don't miss a veranda. The forward elevators take me right up to the adult pool/spa, or down to Beat Street. Also we're close to the W.Disney Theatre, and the kids' clubs.

Thanks for the replies.

SeaSpray, there will only be 2 in the inside/oceanview cabin. We'll get one verandah cabin (cat 6) for my parents (and, my sister will either be with them, with me, or in another cabin depending how many decide to go, it'll be anywhere from 4-6).

plutopup, where was the muster station for 6512?

Thanks!

Deck 4, starboard. Aside from one incident, we've only spent a few minutes for each of the drills.
