Thanks to the OP huey578 for posting this information. This is the thread that I read about the special in and I went right from this thread to my email. Thank you sooooooooooooooo much!!! I live for a travel channel Disney special. I've seen every one of them and always set my dvr to record them as they come on!!! It is so exciting to get a chance to actually be in one thanks to your thread!!!

My guess would be that your payment would be (and likely may be limited to only this payment by contract) a DVC membership at the expense of Disney and the network. Hence the reason it would only interest those favoring future visits to WDW.

I'm only guessing, though.

First, congrats to MamaPrincess!

Secondly, I seriously doubt they would pay a family the equivalent of over $10,000. Sorry MamaPrincess. You may get Disney compensation but maybe like one week's vacation but I doubt a whole membership.

That said, I'd be happy to be wrong!

I didn't post to this thread earlier because I am so superstitious about talking about stuff that I really want to happen that hasn't happened yet.

I sent an email early this week and got a call the next day. They loved our story and wanted to let us know we were being considered. I didn't get that phone call it went to voice mail as most calls to me go LOL. Anyway she called again the next day. I answered the phone and got a big shock. She asked me some questions, we talked and seemed to have a really good rapport between us. She said she'd keep me posted. Got a call the next day asking if we could make a little video of our family and detail some of our experiences with DVC and what we like about it. We made that and emailed it. Got a response the next day that she loved it and thanks for our efforts and she'd get back to us when she knew more. This morning I checked my email and found out that they would like to feature our family on the special!!! She gave us a tentative date and some details, asked about our flexibility etc etc.

The girls are going to freak out!!!

Good for you! I hope you have a wonderful trip! So were you planning your SSR trip before this or is that where they are putting you up? I can't wait to hear all about this experience!

Congratulations-but I wish they would consider using a "not your typical" DVC family in there show also. I know there is a lot of other gay DVC families (with or without kids) out there who've been members for a long time and would enjoy hearing about there experiences with DVC. I guess it would be nice to here from the other sub-communities within our community. i mean really how many times have they chosen a "different' family unit as grand marshall of the 3:00 parade??
I know we've been members since 98 with a considerable amount of points. Been on the DCL Magic 15x(special cruises included),WDW too many to count,Disneyland 3x ,Disneland Paris 1x, and have dropped some serious $$$$$ over the years. Just like to see Disney mix it up a little.
Please don't flame as I'm only stating a fact.

Dan and Scott- did you apply? They were calling for diverse families to apply-Perhaps in addition to ethnically diverse families they would consider showing a non-typical family unit- A gay couple with or without children and DINKS come to mind.

DINKS are household with double-income-no-kids. Which is a very non-traditional demographic for Disney to market to- but one that could be very lucrative for them. It does sound kind of mean- but it isn't.

We are OINKS- One-income-numerous-kids.
