Castaway Key - beach chairs and hammocks

Since the hammocks are so uncomfortable, is it possible to bring a personal Eno hammock? I know some places are particular about trees to string them up to.

I'm not aware of an official Disney policy on that. Good question, though...it would be interesting if someone actually knows the answer (not a guess).

Sure would guarantee a hammock being available <grin>

We went on the fully booked Dream two weeks ago during our Spring Break. Got off the boat around 9 (all ashore was 830). Walked to family beach, about 1/2 way 'in" from the snorkeling area, and found loungers with umbrellas without any issue (we didn't need to be front row to the water, but were about 3 rows back from the ocean). Great view, peaceful and easy. Left our stuff there but we were there and back in groups all day. Most others seemed to leave their stuff all day. We didn't try for a hammock, but by 2pm, many had apparently gone back to the ship and hammocks were empty (thus my kids filled them!). I did look around at 11AM at all the full chairs at the Family Beach and comment that I was glad we got off the ship early and got chairs in the shade.

We made the mistake of getting off the ship about 30 minutes after the all clear had been announced and had the WORST time finding 4 chairs free. Forget 4 - we barely found ONE!

Weird! We've only been on Dream (so the same size ship), and except for the first time, I get off in the morning, do the 5K (and I personally have never had the experience where we get off the ship before anyone else), *go back to the ship*, shower etc, and then get off the ship with hubby and son, and we still get loungers and even an umbrella.

I tried the hammocks once and it was enough....so uncomfortable for me. I also hate the rope marks they leave. Now, if they were solid fabric hammocks that would be a different story.

Yep. :)

There are plenty of loungers, chairs and umbrellas, you only need to be out early if you want the front row. One of my favorite parts of CC is that my bag can have a chair instead of putting it in the sand.

I have to chime in with my experience, which was on the Fantasy, last August, at the second family beach, the one with Pelican Plunge.

Loungers with umbrellas (all of them, regardless of location), all full within 30 minutes. No one left them empty/available until late in the day. Hammocks the same.

Regular chairs: Unlimited supply. They had them stacked up along the side and you could take as many as you wanted and move them where-ever you wanted. They never came even close to running out. Many people (not me) moved them into shallow water. The life guards did not seem to mind.

is it possible to take your lunch from the buffet to your beach chair to eat at the adult only beach?
