We received the burlap in September 2015 (first sailing with the newer cc bag), I didn't notice an odor - it was a little stiff. We used it the entire cruise, so maybe outside on the pool decks, sandy beaches, fresh air, etc. the smell is gone? We love it. I think it's the best design yet, and sturdy!

we received the silver one on the Wonder last April (2015) and I was happy to see the burlap one on the Magic this past April, I like the burlap one better than the plain silver one

Just FYI, our Dream cruise on 4/29/16 it was the burlap bag. Ours hasn't started smelling as of yet.

So, we just got off the Fantasy today from our 7-day (3/25-4/1) cruise and the gift was the same burlap bag. It seems like they could turn these over faster. This bag has been in rotation for coming on 2 years. If you're an annual cruiser, you'll get this multiple times. Our favorite bag was from our 2012 Dream, an actual backpack. We bring it with us each trip.
