How do you become a castaway club member? I went to their website and only saw a newsletter. Do i understand that you can get additional credits or discount with this membership?
Thanks

The only way to become a Castaway Club member is to go on a DCL cruise. Once you've cruised you are automatically a member. As far as I know there are no discounts. You get a few perks on your next DCL cruise(s), such as a gift in your stateroom; an invitation to a special cocktail party; early booking for excursions, Palo, the spa, and kids clubs on the web site; and priority check-in at the port.

We were on our first dcl cruise May 27th, and just got our castaway club cards. We didn't have to sign up or anything.:thumbsup2

Ok thanks, well once the 2009 dates come out i will be a member!!
thanks again

I have a question. I sailed on the Disney Magic in March of 1999, but, when I sailed, I was only fifteen, and the reservation was not under my name. Does that still make me a Castaway Club member? Even though I don't have a membership card or anything? Wouldn't Disney be able to look me up and see I've sailed with them before? I know it isn't that a big of deal, but I would like to use the special check-in area, (shorter line, ;) means boarding the ship faster to me,) and I wouldn't mind being "invited," to an exclusive party. :goodvibes

Yes, you are still a member. My DS11 received his card along with DH's and mine a few weeks ago. DCL was supposed to mail them out to everyone, but it's possible that some were missed. You can call 1-800-449-3380 and tell them you didn't receive your's.

I thought I read somewhere that it's not a cocktail party anymore. :confused3
It's still listed as a cocktail party on DisneyCruise.com/CastawayClub, but I haven't been on a cuise since 2004 so I don't know for sure.

Hi guys. We sailed on the Wonder this past March (2007) and have not received our Castaway Club cards. Can anyone tell me who to contact or the website?

Thanks!

You can call 1-800-449-3380 It may just be taking a long time to process them. They should be able to give you your number(s) right over the phone if you are in need of them right away to book another cruise.

The cards are cute, but not needed. Once you give them your name, birthdate etc and you are in the system, you do not even have to mention it again. You have a number, just call Disney. Actually I think the people at the main 800# are nicer than the CC 800#. Each time we book, we just go through the main #. On our KTW cards, it still said Castaway Club Member. They keep everything from cruise to cruise, including medical information. I have never had to remind them we were member and still get the perks of check in and the party. It better still be a cocktail party, that is my reason for going "FREE DRINKS". The gift in the room is cool too. One represenative once told me, the CC line at port is sometimes longer than the other lines. Don't worry, you are a member even without the card.

They probably sent my card, along with the eleven other cards of the people I traveled with, to my grandparents since the reservation was in their name and booked, (and paid for,) by them. I'll call my grandmother and see if she has them. Of course that cruise was eight years ago, and nobody else in my really cares about taking another cruise except for me, so who knows if she still has anything Disney sent her. I know before the cruise my grandparents were sent all of the cruise documents and papers, and my grandmother sent all the ones me and my mom needed to my mom.

Yes, you are still considered a Castaway Club member. Our kids are all members even though the ressies were not in their name. But, don't hold out for a card. We have cruised DCL 16 times and were even on the Maiden Voyage of the Magic and we never received anything except an initial card and that was issued to just me....hubby and kids never got a card but do have Castaway Club numbers. We never got the new cards they just sent out or any of the CC mailings that some get. Does not make sense. Their whole CC program needs overhauling, IMO.

The separate check-in line and "exclusive" party invite are funny in the fact that there are usually tons of people in the CC check-in line and the CC party onboard is usually overcrowded. Don't get me wrong....I am not sour on DCL just letting you know the reality of the situation.....there are so many repeat cruisers on DCL (a good thing) that the onboard "exclusive" party is not so "exclusive"!!!

Go and enjoy your next DCL cruise. I can't wait for ours!!! When you make your ressie just tell them you cruised before and they can look up your number and make sure you get any CC perks on your next cruise.

We cruised less than a month ago and got our cards last week!! :cool1:

I was so excited that I could finally access that "private" area of the Disney Cruise website! So I grabbed my cards and tried to log on....

Not.

Says that my number has probably been updated and that I needed to call. LOL! Disney sure moves fast if it was updated within a few days!! Still haven't called but I plan on it...

But the membership kit was cool. :woohoo: Love that it came with the CD! Haven't listened to it yet because I'm still in full-blown PDTD (Post-Disney Traumatic Disorder). I hear it's incurable (except for brief periods while actually having a Disney experience) and I'm thinking that the music from the Wonder just might make my condition worse.

Yep,your right. There's so many "Members" now that it's just not cost effective to give away free drinks. Although you do get a soda and a Rice Krispie Mickey Bar. Play a game and get into a drawing for a clock.

You got a membership kit? All we got were new cards. :sad1:

A membership kit or .. something like it? I think it was called the "Shoreside Survival Kit" (I've already put it away in the lock box - mine, not Al Gore's). Came with a letter and the CD's. Odd part is that I got one and DH got one (DD's card was also in his). So we have two!

I think you can see pics of it if you Google it...

Since it isn't a cocktail party anymore - are children invited or is it just for adults?

Our kids came and many others were there as well. They had the finger foods they do in the bars at night and drinks for the adults and pop for the kids. We listened to a thank you both times from the captain and cruise director and mingled with staff. We than left. The first time our kids did not come, the second they did. For US, next time we will let the kids stay in the club/lab (it was not much fun for them). With us, it was nice to see all of the officers in perfect uniform. Even though I did not say to my DH, I love to see men in uniform.pirate:
