Castaway Cay Teen Excursion

I just came across this thread which seems outdated! Can anyone add anything new? My son also asked that if he wanted to leave the group to come find us for some reason and then he wanted to go back could he do that? :confused3

Thanks for revising this thread it sounds interesting. Both kids are now teens and this may be Mom & Dad's key to having some alone time on CC!

If your talking about the Wildside excursion and its still like it was 18months or so ago: Yes they can leave, managers are at the end of a radio and will come and pick up any teens in the golf buggy that don't want to carry and will drop them back, usually to teen hide out. As for going back and re-joining the group, thats a little more tricky, I don't even know if they allow it, its kind of a fast moving excursion and its not really around the main bit of the island, so not to annoy other guests lol.

If your asking about teen hideout - the teen hang out area of the island, then absolutely. Its more of a drop off your stuff, meet up, chill out area (literally just like edge/vibe on the ship), teens will often go off and do activities around the island, but they'll be two CM there all the time so will let anyone who comes (teens or parents) where the main group is if they're not there so they can go and find them.

Yes, the Wild Side Teen Adventure is what I was referring to!! Thanks for the information, that will help him decide what he wants to do!! :thanks:

My daughter did this in December, we watched them enter the speedboats from serenity beach and head out onto the water. She loved the experience and said she would do it again if we went back. You do have to sign a ‘leaving the ship alone’waiver as at the end they are free to do as they please, I met mine at the hideout to ask her plans and hideout directed me to find her as she had gone with her new friends to eat lunch she let us know she would meet us at the ship.

I had no idea about this! Sounds wonderful and I sure hope my 14 year old shy son does it! All but the bike riding part...he isn't a fan. I am already praying he finds at least ONE friend on our cruise in June...that would help him so much!

The key as I understand it is he needs to go to the first day/night activities as that is when most of the "friendships" form.

Yes! I plan on encouraging (begging) him to do just that! And hoping there is a super, nice, outgoing kid in there that might just take the time to notice the shy kid in the back...

My DS is also 14 so maybe they can team up!! My DS is pretty outgoing!

Thanks for all the great review- trying to talk my teens into doing this during or Double Dip. They don't know "how to snorkel" and my suggestions of a pre trip lesson have been scoffed at. I know it isn't hard, but do they provide some instruction? And life vests?

Snorkel (life) vests are mandatory and they provide them. I'm not positive on the instruction, but I imagine they'll give them some general pointers. It really isn't something you need lessons for.

Hi everyone- our two 15 yo teen girls are looking forward to this, however I’m nervous about how fast a “speedboat” goes. Can anyone tell me? Thanks!
