Taking the advice of some of the very WISE DIS boarders, I sent my kids postcards from the Castaway Cay post office while we were there on January 24th. I have yet to receive them...and I am very SAD :-(. Did anyone else have a LOOOONg wait for their postcards?

Thanks for your responses, erfaith

Hi erfaith,
I think we had a 4 week wait. I have heard that sometimes it takes as long as 8 weeks, if they ever arrive. :wizard: Here's some pixie dust to help them hurry on their way.

I think I saw a thread floating around here that said some didn't receive their post cards several weeks after their cruise. I'm thinking the number was 8 weeks, but I can't remember for sure.

It takes "forever".....weeks, give them three months, then have a little funeral for them...

I've seen some posts where people mentioned it took a LONG time to get their postcards... by the time they forgot about them is about the time they arrived. :p

Thanks for the heads up. I feel a little better. I do hope they come eventually!!!

OH MY - it takes forever - I think they hold them, but where they hold them, is unknown :rotfl2:

Last year I mailed approx. 40 of them to different locations and not sure how many got to their destinations. But the ones who did get them, it was over 6 to 8 weeks. They were mailed on July 9th and some people didn't get them until the 3rd week in September.

I mailed postcards to myself and my parents on the Jan 8 - 12/06 cruise and we received both of them on the same day, I think last week or the end of the week before.

So it took ours about 3 weeks or so to reach Canada from Castaway Cay.

I was surprised to get ours as soon as we did. I knew reading the boards that it would be awhile, if at all! It was about 2 weeks later. :teeth:

You are way too soon to see them. I think it took about 6 weeks for ours to arrive.

We were there on Jan. 24th as well! Wasn't the weather just beautiful? :sunny: We were wondering the same thing...
BTW.... why DOES it take so long, anyone know?

Because everything on Castaway Cay runs on "island time" including the post office ;)

Honestly I have no idea why it takes so long sometimes for them to come. :)

Well it seems he or she was out delievering all of yall's post cards, because the post office was closed to two day we were at CC! :rotfl2:

I was SO mad when we got off the ship at CC I KNOW that darn post office was open so we went and bought our postcards and went ALL the way back to the PO and it was closed said to go to guest services well to me that isn't the same so I didn't mail any from there.

I don't know if you went the same time as me, but it never did open. We were one of the first off of the ship and it was closed when we got off both days. I guess that has to be one of my overrated things about DCL.
