We've been to CC twice in December and have had no problems with the water temperature either time. We spent a good part of each day in the water. This was at Serenity Bay.
We have been to CC the first full week of December three years in a row and I thought the water was too cold. It was more like if you could stand it, you would get numb to it and be okay. When we went to do the stingray excursion that I had seen pictures of people only up to their knees in the water I was NOT happy to see that the person we were with was out much further than that. We had to go in deeper than our waist and the water was so cold that it burned. The women in our group who we all knew thank goodness had to talk each other into going out to the stingrays and all had the same reaction to the water. The ONLY reason I went in the water that day was to feed the rays. That said, it didn't stop DH, the kids and may others from being in the water all day. It was nice and warm on the beach in a lounge chair in the sun once I thawed out, however. It reminded me of when we went swimming in Lake Michigan in the summer. You stuck your toe in and froze then were okay to go in. LOL! I was a kid then.
