The cat to me is the mascot of the island just like Shadow is the mascot of Hilton Head. I love all animals and there is nothing wrong with being concerned about them.
I find this whole thing regarding the cat very funny... in a good way! People complaining about not going to CC to see a cat so no one should be concerned? Really? ... because last winter I spent thousands and thousands of dollars to see a giant mouse, a talking dog and a duck with no pants. I think the cat deserves our concern as much as they do![]()
Here it is! A thread that everyone who loves this cat can post to their hearts content about it's safety, sightings, & everything else related to the cat. I started it because all the other threads regarding CC since the hurricane have turned into threads about the cat & not about CC. I can understand feelings on both sides of the issue so why not keep comments about the well being of the cat within this thread & comments about CC stay on those threads!Hope you all enjoy!
My family and I are sailing on Oct 6th. I think I'll bring casey a gift. I wonder what he/she would like? Too band I can't include him in on our FE gifts,,,,,
I heart Casey!
Obviously people do care about the cat (I care about the cat) but that was not what those other threads were about and some of us were getting frustrated that it was turning into the "all cat, all the time channel".Heaven forbid people care about a living, breathing creature and not just some trees and buildings.![]()
I've seen Casey on my last two cruises and am glad to hear that he/she is okA CM on my first cruise where I encountered Casey told me that the cat was brought over from Nassau by some of the workers that do the excursions and just dumped it there. It seems that the CM's that live on the island do take care of Casey. I would have to imagine that they would (give her vaccinations, etc) because otherwise a cat would pose too much of a potential risk should it suddenly decide it wanted to bite someone for petting it the wrong way.
I worked with cats for 12 years (and have my own) and can tell that Casey seems to be older, and at times appears agitated when people seem to pet her the "wrong" way (too rough, too much, "against" the hair grain), etc. You'll notice her start to wag her tail. I'm honestly sort of shocked that she's never turned around and swatted at someone or nipped.
Now we have an all cat thread.Thank you OP for starting it, wish I would have thought of it myself.

Conversation overheard while going through security line:
TSA: "What's this in the baggie?"
Traveler: "Honest, officer, it's CATNIP!"
TSA: "Oh, yeah? Where's your cat?"
Traveler: "It's for Casey the cat - he lives on Disney's island in the Caribbean. It's a gift for the kitty"
TSA: "Come with me, please"
