Hey guys, just wondering if the 5K on Castaway Cay is offered on every cruise that stops there? Also what are the requirements to run the race? And lastly, when do you sign up for this? Thank you for any information you can provide.

You sign up at Port Adventures when you get on the ship. It is held on every cruise as long as the ship can dock at Castaway Cay (I have done it in very hot and very damp weather). No requirements except to sign up and do it.

There is an age requirement, though. So if you have children, smaller ones won't be able to go with you. I believe the age limit is 10.

Nope, no children. Just me(23) and my gf (22). I was just wondering if you had to previously run in a marathon or something. I believe I read somewhere that for the marathons in WDW you have to do that.

If you are interested in doing another Run Disney race (on land) you only need to submit a Proof of Time from a previous race in order to get a corral placement. If you do not have that you will likely be put in the last corral.

The usual CC 5K does not have corrals so that is not a concern. The CC 5K done in conjunction with the CC Challenge however does have 3 corrals, but it doesn't sound like that is what you are considering, so that shouldn't affect you. :)

Awesome thanks!

They didn't offer the challenge in conjunction with the Princess Half this year. I was disappointed.

Yes, I believe it was only offered with Marathon weekend for 2016. I actually did my first full marathon specifically so I could get the CC Challenge medal. ;)

Nope. Although apparently a doctor's note is required for the Paris Disney race this year, in the US you just pay the money. :)

Once the ship docks, the CC5 runners are the first off.

Sometimes. For the free island 5K I've literally never been in a runner group that was first off. We always just join the line.

I hope you know you didn't have to do the full marathon? Could have done the 5K in Orlando then signed up for the Challenge 5K and cruise and gotten the same Challenge medal?

Now if you wanted to do a full, that's awesome. But the Challenge registration was open to anyone participating in any of the January marathon weekend races. I did it with the Half. They did it for January weekend 2015 and
2016, and Princess 2015, and that's it.

Yep! We didn't decide to do this until September and the full was the only land race not sold out by then. DH wanted to do the full anyway, plus we couldn't get there before Saturday so I had to give it a shot. So glad I did! The CC Challenge medal is a nice one!

Do you get a medal for the CC 5k? I only run if I get a medal :)

The medals for the CC 5K are made of rubber, but still very nice. The one on the left is the new one for 2016 (the ribbon has 2016 on it).
