Hi there
Got a chance to catch up wioth my favorite cast members and got the latest gossip.

Well after Cars land and Buena Vita opens up they will be working on doing a vast refurb on Tomorrowland.
The refurb includes a complete overhaul of autotopia, shortening the track and possibly if things don't work out with Chevron ditching the ride all together. My friend then went into a long rant about losing the contract with Chevron, apprently Chevron wants a year to year deal with Disney and Diseny can't afford that because of the nautral gas that the cars run on.
After going on Autotopia this past week it needs an overhaul, the cars kept breaking down, the steering was all off, my husbands car in front of me backfired and shot flames out from underneath it, it happened close to the unloading zone and whats worse is when I told the cast member about it, they did nothing about it as if it was par for the course.

They will of course keep Finsing Nemo where it is. They need to put something in Captain EO. When I asked about Walle or Phineas and Ferb possibly going in there I was told no that Phineas and Pixar movies are exclusive to California Adventure. I then argued about Buzz Lightyear blasters but apparently that is based off the cartoon not the movie so that is an exception. Innovations might even be closing. They said it is a $30,000 cost that is basically just sitting there. When I visited Innoventaions this past week they weren't doing the floor show they normally do and was generally disappointed in the overall feel of it, apprently the higher ups agree with me.

There will be new restaurants going in, they are doing something new with the space that the arcade is currently in though no one knows what. SPace Mountain will remain however there is talk about moving the rocket ships yet again if anything because of major traffic flow problems in that area. Buzz lightyeasr and Star Tours will remain. There is also talk as there always is about doing something with the people mover track. But whatever is ends up being whether they put something in there or even tear it out it will happen with this major refurb.
Apparently this major refurb will take place over several years time.
That's all the gossip on that one

Other gossip is that next year or possibly as early as the fall of 2012 World of Color will be going through a major refurb and (this next part isn't gossiP) will be tearing out the park seating area for World of Color and rebuilding it. As we all heard the news that it was originally supposed to hold so many people then when actually built only held about half that. SO they are planning on rebuilding it but I am not sure what exactly they are doing though some sort of stadium seating has been proposed. During this refurb they will of course be checking through all the stuff.
This past week I saw WOC and I thought there was a part where these White half dome globe things come out of the water and show things on them, but it never happened and I was relatively close to the water. Also We were seated in the handicapped section of preiere dining and even infront of us there were two guys that had their daughters on top of their shoulders where practically no one seated in the handicapp section could see. We asked the cast member right behind them to nicely ask them to put their daughters down so we could all see and she said "I'm sorry we can't ask them to do that" WHAT!?!?! I told her to ask them to remove their daughters from their shoulders or call security before I go and do it. Apparently they heard the commotion and were nice enough to do it. But I'm sorry common sense and common courtesy they never should have put them up there to start with.

There is talk about updating or revamping Fantasmic to include some later movies and characters.

The matterhorn has undergone several refurb closing it for many months at a time and I am told this latest refurb should be the last in a very long time. He explained for a long time about how the Matterhorn itself was built out of wood and basically the lagoon water is what was holding it up and they were scared that when they drained the lagoon for Finding Nemo that the pressure would basically cause Matterhorn to collapse so they had to basically rebuild the Matterhorn, then there were track issues. This latest refurb is not only to switch out the cars but to revamp the que line so handicapped people have a bettere ntrance and to possible put in a fastpass line. The track is also going some overhaul so that the ride is a lot smoother that before.

Electronica is of course scheduled to close APril 15th and turned into some DJ dance club thing but not everyone is happy about it. To turn it into some generic dj dance club without a theme behind it like tron seems silly and I for one agree.

I think that is it. If I think of anything else I heard I will let you know!

Interesting. I hope they figure out a better solution for WOC viewing.

Alot makes sense..Innoventions really need to go..waste of space..and either do something with PeopleMover tracks or tear them down..

Isn't that what Mad T Party is replacing???

Thanks for sharing the info. It will be interesting to see what unfolds. I have to say I would be happy to see all of these changes, except for Autopia. I love riding it with my DD5. I hope they can come to an agreement. I would love to see stadium seating for WOC. It would satisfy a lot of issues. As for the DJ party at DCA, I loved, loved, loved the Glowfest theme. We stopped there many nights and had fun. It was very family friendly. Tron, on the other hand was cool in theming, but NOT for the entire family. The new theme is to be Mad T Party. It will be the Tim Burton version of "Alice in Wonderland." I am not a fan of this version, but I am interested in seeing how the party will be themed. :thumbsup2

I hope they put the People Mover back in! We love :lovestruc riding the Tomorrowland transit authority in WDW. It's a great "downtime" ride, one that my DH and I can usually get a few minutes rest from the crowds on. I also hope they keep Autotopia, my kids love that ride. I wouldn't mind making the track shorter though, my calf usually has a cramp by the time we are done from holding that gas pedal down for my youngest DD, who can't reach it. As far as Innoventions goes, we do like it, but I don't think we would miss it. As a family we really enjoy Carousel of Progress that they have at WDW, but I know that one gets pretty low attendance there so I don't know if they would duplicate it at DL. We call that one Daddy's nap ride(that and It's a Small World). :rotfl:

Dismom I totally agree with everything you said. I know as a kid I thought people mover was the most boring dumb ride but now that I am old myself I LOVE it everytime we go to DW. And I have heard over and over how much people loved it and would like it back so I too would love to see it come back in some form. I am sure they could update it a bit. And I agree innoventions, while I thought neat in some ways, truly is kind of boring. I did it a couple times and that was enough for me. Even if they completely scrapped the bldg and put something totally new OR somehow found a way to use it and brought in a new "ride". I don't know about you but I LOVED the journey into inner space and I bet they could make a cool new version of that!! :)

Love hearing all the possible changes and glad to know that there will be more fun stuff coming but I have to admit it would be nice to have a year or two with NO construction. It seems like we have been maneuvering around walls for 5 years LOL. I would love to be able to go to both parks and just have EVERYTHING open for once. ;)

Interesting "gossip". I truly hope they leave Autopia alone. My grandkids enjoy it as much as thier parents did.
As far as the old PeopleMover track, it was so compromised when Rocket Rods occupied the space that I believe it would need to be torn down and rebuilt.
I am short and no matter were I stand for the WOC the viewing has never been satisfying. Stadium seating would sure solve that problem.
:hyper2::chat::hyper2: :tink:

I know it takes a lot of space and is not as well as attended any more but my kids love Innoventions. They spend hours in there poking around everything, take a chill from hot weather, slow down, relax and have fun. I get a break too from our usual pace! Guess we'll have to make sure we enjoy it this summer if it could be on the chopping block.

Thanks so much for the gossip and rumors, Minuet888.

I too really really hope they put in stadium seating for WOC. I can't believe how badly they blew it on the viewing area! Especially considering that it's a very recent addition, and they have so much experience accommodating people.

I too would love love love it if People Mover came back. But I thought I had read that there were some major problems with it that would require structural changes to the buildings that it goes through; and that it was just too expensive to do so. But I don't recall the details. Anyone remember reading that? Perhaps the problems are with the Innoventions building itself. So if they're thinking of revamping or removing that, perhaps it's feasible after all? If so, YAY. Innoventions is a total waste of space, as far as I'm concerned. I liked Carousel of Progress, way back when it was at DL. But Innoventions? Bleh. Tear it down, put in a real E-ticket ride, and run PeopleMover through it, I say.

-Bob

That would be great if Disney changed the WOC viewing area.

& as for innovations, iv never been in there :/ Every time i go i wonder what it is but it doesn't look like anything so we always skip it.

If they close Innoventions, where will I go if it's pouring rain????

I know the new dance scene at DCA will be the Mad T Party...maybe it's just not themed enough for the CMs' taste?

Thanks for the rumors. It will be interesting to see which ones pan out!

PM as it was formerly operating apparently did not meet update safety requirements but was grandfathered in because it pre-dated those standards. I suspect TTA at MK is similar.

They can never build PM again in anything like its original form because now it would need to meet those requirements. So if it comes back, it will return in some altered form. More closed in. Some have talked about like a "pod" from The Incredibles movie.

:)

I am getting use to having certain areas closed down when I go to the parks for refurbs..
However if we go in September as long as Astroblaster is open we are good to go!

Things are forever changing, some we like some we don't, but I guess its just something we have to deal with.

Hi guys again
I talked again to some friends thanking them for the perks at DL and brought up some of your comments.
I call these things gossip and rumors because while these cast members are my friends they aren't the higher ups at DL and hear things as they trickle down and if you've ever played the telephone game as the story moves down the line it tends to change. So until there is some sort of official announcement or it actually happens I consider it gossip and no offense to my cast member friends.

Ok, the Mad Tea Party is a yes, i had only asked one of my friends about Electronica closing because he performs in the Disney Dance Crew on the stage that is right there and all he said was that is was closing and turning into some generic DJ dance thing but after talking to MORE of my CM friends it is indeed going to be themes to mad tea party however I have heard both that it will be themed to Tim Burton's version and I have also heard that it will NOT be themed to Tim Burton's version so take that for what you will.

DisMom73 - You mentioned putting in Carousel of Progress in place of Innoventions but apparently there are a few problems with that. I guess it is still at WDW and not doing well. (I've never seen it so I can't comment personally), it isn't well received because it is out of date now and apparently falling apart and has a very high repair cost, meaning that it breaks down often and it costs more to repair it than operate it. So that's why they don't want to go this route.
Here are some examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO3Xaxw8nok
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UACV9AtH4eU&feature=related
The building will not be scrapped. it is kind of a historical icon amongst the higher ups it would be to them like tearing out the matterhorn or sleeping beauty's castle. it just isn't going to happen, the problem is finding what to put in there, carousel of progress ins't an oprtion as I mentioned above, America Sings isn't an option because the animatronics are all over at Splsh mountain and think about it Dinsey doesn't bring back attractions. The only thing I can think of Disney brgining back an attraction would be Luigi's flying tires which used to be a UFO ride in Tomorrowland. Same ride just rethemed:
http://www.yesterland.com/saucers.html
If you want to see a bunch of old DL attractions I highly recommend going to www.yesterland.com
I think the problem is they don't hype or advertise Innoventions, people walk past the building thinking it isn't even an attraction and just walk on past, it's like they've just....given up on it.

Some people mentioned stadium seating but the problem with that is that it needs to have a system where it sets up and folds down in other words there can't be a giant stadium seating thing there in the middle of the day because they still want it to be a park like atmosphere there and you will also have the kids that will climb on it and might fall ya know. So stadium seating isn't a 100% go yet for those reasons.

kelmac284 - you mention that it would be nice to have some time with no construction and you've had enough with walls. Believe me you are not the only one who feels that way even the CM's and higher ups feel that way. There is talk of possibly shutting down ALL of tomorrowland during the refurb leaving open maybe just Star Tours since it is right at the entrance. They are aware of the several traffic flow problems already in the area and putting walls there will only make it worse and there is fear of not being ADA compliant with wheelchair access with walls going up. Again it isn't 100% as Disney likes to keep all rides open if at all possible, so this might be a last resort solution.

tinkcollector - you (and others) have mentioned the people mover track possibly being comprimised and needing to be torn down and rebuilt, it's only half true. There are new standards the Disney would have to abide by if they were to get people mover going again but Disney doesn't want to tear down anything that is doesn't have to, if they did have to tear down everything in order to do the people mover again they might as well just tear it down and leave it down. They could have torn down that track at any given time but they haven't...they have something in mind or something up their sleeve, that track has remained there for a reason. Apparently the pillars that hold up the track are perfectly fine and hold up to code and standards. They do need to redo the track not just because of code and standards but because it hasn't been used and is rusted in certain areas etc. Also because they aren't doing the rocket rods anymore (they are NOT bringing that back that is apparently a 100% no) they have to redo the track to accomodate the people mover style not the rocket rods style. As Hydroguy stated they can't put peoplemover back the same way it was before and as I mentioned above DL is known for not bringing back their attractions. I liked Hydroguy's idea of doing the pods like from Incredibles and I also mentioned how about the floating recliner things from WALL-E but then was reminded that Pixar stuff is exclusive to DCA. Why they do that I don't know, just seems like they are limiting themselves that way.

Whew...again...I think that's it, did I miss anything?
Let me know! Thanks guys!!

While Tomorrowland may have an attraction revamped or replaced. Officially there will be no bigger changes than that. This is as far as planning goes at Disney, not a rumor.

I thought Finding Nemo was a Pixar movie? I would love to see an Incredible's ride put in! The Pod idea would be good. However, i always thought they should change the name of California Screaming to be a Incredible - they wouldn't need to change much, as the colors are already there. Can't wait for something to replace Captain EO! Loved Mickeys Phil- forgot the name- you know that show at WDW... Always thought Innoventions was wasted space. keep the building put in a ride- and a variety of eateries from all nations! Like some Thai, Filipino, African, German, Italian.... Australian, etc. Sort of like a mini Epcot!
Stadium seating would be awesome! For both WOC and Fantasmic! Heck they figured out how to make the Soaring ride go up- :lmao: it couldn't be too hard to figure how to make it collapse!

So... we don't believe anything a cast member tells us about FPs or other issues, but let's discuss a whole slate of topics that are just pure rumor and speculation. Okay, I'm game. :confused3

Very interesting rumors though.

...As far as Innoventions goes, we do like it, but I don't think we would miss it. As a family we really enjoy Carousel of Progress that they have at WDW, but I know that one gets pretty low attendance there so I don't know if they would duplicate it at DL....

Innoventions used to be The Carousel of Progress. It was then sent to WDW. I don't see them bringing it back, as the building has lots of different things in it now and CoP would take up the entire building.

We enjoy a lot of things inside Innoventions. I am not sure why people don't go in it and check it out. My guess? It's not a ride. Everyone is so busy checking off rides, why go do something that is an experience? I don't know. Just a theory.

There's a great robot show inside there: ASIMO. We love it. You can play Disneyland Adventures on Xbox Kinect (which is a lot of fun and if you don't have it at home --- woohoo!). The Peter Pan room in there --- ah, so cool! And more. We like it. If you haven't been, check it out.

My understanding is that Innoventions is paid for through Corporate Sponsorships (like Honda, for example) so I am very surprise by the comments that Minuet888 posted about it costing $30,000. Maybe your friends meant it brings IN $30,000?

...Ok, the Mad Tea Party is a yes...
I guess I didn't realize this was in question. Information is on Disneyland's site. Here it is. Mad T Party.

America Sings isn't an option because the animatronics are all over at Splsh mountain and think about it Dinsey doesn't bring back attractions.
I would imagine this would also not be an option as the building is not the same anymore. It was changed slightly after the death of Deborah Stone's death (cast member) and changed again for Carousel of Progress. I don't think the stage set ups are the same anymore, short of it rotating.

Disney brought back Captain EO, so I would imagine if they thought people wanted America Sings, they would bring it back.

There is talk of possibly shutting down ALL of tomorrowland during the refurb leaving open maybe just Star Tours since it is right at the entrance....
I would be shocked if they shut down all of Tomorrowland. People go crazy when Space Mountain is down for minor windows to do a Halloween layover. I can't imagine if it were out of commission for a long period.

I thought Finding Nemo was a Pixar movie?
It is. :)

So is Buzz (Toy Story).
