Casino on new ships?

I don't think DCL will have casinos onboard the new ships, but I don't think it would ruin family vacations either. RCCL is geared towards families and they have casinos and the comment about having to go through a casino to get anywhere on one of their ship is a bit misguided. They are usually on one deck and you may have to pass through to get to another part of that deck, but there are certainly alternate ways around (i.e. outside, different deck, etc.) I also highly doubt the atmosphere would be different, do we really think degenerate gamblers are boarding a Disney Cruise to hit the casinos? No. Some moms and dads who want to pass an hour or two while the little ones are off at the slumber party or something. There is not much to do in the evenings for adults, particularly later at night. I could take them or leave them, but my wife enjoys dropping a couple of dollars in a poker machine.

I doubt it because DCL in videos and podcast stress the fact they do not have one on the ship. I will be honest though, I do not care either way. It would bring down the cost and DCL is so careful in design that they would have it tucked away somewhere that you would have to be seeking it to find it. Plus gives the smokers somewhere to go 6 of the nights and not as many in Rocking D Bar.

I don't gamble even when I go to Las Vegas, but I certainly don't care whether Disney has a casino on board or not! It wouldnt affect me booking - I book Disney cruises because I love Disney. Similarly I don't think anyone who likes to gamble would book a Disney cruise just because they suddenly had a casino on board, so I dont see how it would affect the family atmosphere. You would still get the same guests, just spread around more evening activities!

Ships make so much money off of casinos that in these hard times it may help them and us if they did add them. Less reason to need to raise the rates. I'm not into it my self but if it helped pay and keep from cutting back on live music, entertainment etc, I would say go for it DCL.
