I am not a licker, thankyouverymuch. I wasn't in 2009 when I posted this, and I still do not lick as a cashier in 2016. (Since you've been wondering all these years...)

I feel it's just better to not think about it. If you do, you might want to think of all things you touch on a daily basis that you have no idea who touched before you... door handles, pens, money (cash), the people who stock products in stores, the dispensers at gas stations, etc.

That's exactly the way I feel. I'm not going to hurt somebody's feelings over something I can see (and therefore feel I can control) just because it's visible to me. I'd rather control my own environment by washing my items/food/hands and be confident that I'm doing the best I can rather than being falsely secure just because I perceive that the person is following good procedure in handling things.

Anyone ever hear the saying, "Have you ever wondered if that dollar bill in your pocket was in a stripper's butt?"?

My sister and her DH used to manage an Inn and when he counted the $20 bills he licked his finger to speed things along. Til he started getting a buzz and remembered that people use $20 bills to snort cocaine.
