Can someone please explain to me why I am on a waitlist for a 1br at every DVC resort for the first nite of our stay but that exact same room is available thru CRO for a cash stay??

I called CRO line to check the availability of the Disney Visa free dining offer and while I was on the phone with them I asked them to check for a cash nite for the first nite of our trip at any resort so I would have a room on property to use DME. The ONLY room available for that nite (holiday) is a 1br at AKV. How is that possible when I am waitlisted for a 1br at AKV (as well as at BCV, SSR, BWV and OKW)??

It happens all the time. The rooms they send to CRO to rent from cash are separate from the rooms that Member services have. I hate it, but it happens.

Ugh. So will those rooms ever go back to DVC inventory from CRO inventory? I find it hard to believe anyone is going to pay $800 for a 1br for 1 nite. :confused3

Chances are that room was turned over to CRO because a member did reserve it on points, but traded to a non-DVC location. Since it is already reserved on points, it can not be reserved a second time on points.

Sigh... well that makes sense but I would bet that room goes empty while there are several of us on a waitlist for that same size accomodations.

I have a cash room off property and a rental car lined up but I would really rather just stay onsite so we can use DME.

Because people like me traded our points for a cruise... DVC gives the room to CRO to sell to pay DCL!

No one know for sure (except the DVC and CRO managers), but it would not surprise me if some rooms return to DVC inventory and the points are then used to reserve a different room which is more likely to be reserved under CRO. This is especially true because if it is highly likely to remain empty there is no money to pay for the “cruise” or other traded out vacation. That would just not make financial sense, especially if the room had “takers” under DVC, and after all money is what it is all about.
