cash reservation at non-home resort

Hi, does anyone know if you can make a cash reservation at a non home resort greater than 7 months in advance or do you need to wait for the 7 month window for cash reservations just like point based ones? Thanks!

The 7-month window does not apply to cash reservations. They are available at the same time any other resort becomes available. You might want to wait, however, because they usually offer the 30-35% discounts less than 7 months ahead of time.

You can make cash reservations at non-home resorts 11 months in advance - sometimes the 25% discount will even apply. In some cases, there will be no availability at 11 months based on prior utilization for those dates and sometimes the date is available, but with no DVC discount (until possibly a few months later).

It is certainly worth a call to secure the room. If there are better discounts available later due to non-DVC discounts being offered by Disney, you can still cancel the villa reserved thru DVC.
