When there are two lines for cash registers, use both of them!

And don't complain loudly to others in your party when I walk up to the empty second line and "bud" in front of you...because I will chuckle quietly to myself and shake my head. Especially when others see what I'm doing and follow. :thumbsup2

It isn't my problem you don't understand how the lines work at Disney. :)

My PSA for the day...it happened multiple times on our trip. You'd think people would learn eventually.

::yes::

If there are 2 lines then, Yes, I agree.

If there is 1 line feeding into 2 registers then, no.

We also see this alot at counter service places. Most people don't use both sides of the register. It's one of my big pet peeves, but it often gets me my food before them so it shouldn't really bother me.

Agreed, but I think the OP is talking about the typical counter-service restaurant setup; people line up on both sides of the register, and the cashier helps each side in turn. Often people get into the (long) line that's obvious, and the other side is empty.

I once stepped out of line at PORt orleans when someone got upset with us at the pasta counter and redirected me to another line ( as that is not where you got the kids pasta or something) for what I was ordering, me not knowing listened and it turns out I was then in the wrong line since moving and had to go back to where I was; leaving me to wait in a huge line now while he was long gone and he had been doing the line wrong. Clearly he was not a disser!:goodvibes I was mad :headache:

Yeah OP that drives me BONKERS!!!! :headache:

They should get lights for the registers like grocery stores. Most people seem to know how grocery store lines work...

The CMs even loudly announce to form two lines!
(A related PSA: if both gates are open for Pirates of the Carribean, and people are only going through on one side (usually the left), take the right!! But please don't laugh at the people waiting on the other side while you walk on ;).)

I don't think there is anywhere at WDW where there is one line feeding into two registers.

Though some people seemed to think that at the Food and Wine booths...and I got the same reaction when I walked up an empty line set up with the black barrier things.

If there were only one line feeding two registers, they'd have only one line set up in front of the registers. :)

We were at Pizza Planet at DHS, with both sides being used...and the lady behind me was complaining about "why bother having two lines when they only help one side at at time. They should have two registers, one for each side."

Aw, that spoils all the fun! Next you'll tell me not to do my "beauty-queen-wave*" toward the peons in the standby line while I'm using my FASTPASS!

*Note: I am not actually a beauty queen. I am, in fact, male. And very far from a beauty of any kind. But man, I can do that wave!

At Tortuga Tavern last month we found this to be commonplace. There was always one line at each register. We ate there 3 times last trip. Each time we walked straight up to the other side. When I say there was a line, I mean a good 5 -10 guests. And yes, we did get 'looks' and comments and my response was to invite them over to get served quicker :rotfl:

I always do that, everyone seems to follow everyone else going to one side and so I take the other side and have either a much shorter wait or no wait at all.

It's the same thing at my local Six Flags. One rollercoaster has a split in the line when you go to the station, you either go forward or turn to the left and go up stairs to the other side of the station (there are 4 loading stations), no one goes up the stairs so that side never has a wait while the other side can be 10 - 15 minutes longer. They need full trains to dispatch the ride so the ride operators at the side with no line announced on the microphone for people to come over from that side to the other side with no line and they still didn't move.

:rotfl2: :lmao: I love how you said that! I somehow missed this post when I first read through the thread. So glad I skimmed over it as I scrolled back to the top of the page :)

I had people yelling at me for cutting the line when I did that at Pizzafari. The CM told me to stay right where I was since it wasn't my fault or hers that the other guests just don't get it. Another time I was behind a woman at Flame Tree and she decided to switch sides when she would have been next to order. The CM shook his head and took my order.

Yeeeeeees!!! OMG, most annoying thing ever. I even tell people but they don't believe me so I just go ahead and get the evil looks for "cutting" :confused3.

I usually walk up and first tell the guests in the long line that they can use both lines. I give them a chance to redistribute then get in line myself. If they just look at me and don't move as they often do then they can't really get mad when I get served first.

People's apparently inability to comprehend that they can line up on both sides of the register (particularly the left side) saved us a significant amount of time at Disney.

I follow directions; it's not my fault others do not. I get dirty looks and comments all the time. My H thought I was cutting in line and then I told him the deal. I try to tell others, but they usually look at me like I have five heads. Oh well, I tried.
