I thought that there was a discount for DVC members paying cash for a room but I can't find it anywhere. Can someone please tell me the amount and if there are any restrictions?
I have a large group going with my family on Jan. 15 - 21 and when I called to make reservations for Sat. night at the Pop Century with an annual pass discount, the discount was not available.
I wished that I had looked at a calendar when I planned this trip - I didn't know that there were any holidays during my trip until this week.
Thanks,
Regina

The cash discount for DVC applies to DVC resorts only. It is 25% cash discount but only during slow periods.

Actually, I'm not so sure it's only available during slow periods as in certain times of the year as much as it's that they only have the discount available whenever DVC thinks they will not be able to fill a room on points. We've gotten weekends so far without any problem paying with the member discount and this past summer was in June at Vero and the resort was completely full - I know because we tried to stay an extra night and there was only one room left and in a different catagory - we would have been able to get the extra night but would have had to switch rooms. Anyway, the other thing is that while the room/villa may be available with the member discount, from what I understand, the member is suppossed to be staying in the room to be eligible for the discount so you may only be able to get the room for yourself - not several rooms for you and extended family (unless you're talking about one big villa for all of you). If you were looking to stay at PC, you'd almost definetly be paying much less to stay there for a night or 2 even if paying rack rates compared to paying to stay DVC with the discount. As mentioned though, the DVC discount only applies at the DVC resorts.

AP discount codes were released for 1/2/05 to 4/16/05. However the booking date by which ressies had to be made has already passed.

As AP holders, we typically receive email notification of the discount codes a couple of days before they go into effect. The codes are also posted on places like these boards and Mousesavers.com. It's my understanding that the Deluxe resorts can be difficult to book--the discounted rooms are in high demand and short supply. But discounted rooms at the moderate and value resorts are pretty easy to come by.

Forgive me, I'm not trying to hi-jack here....but I must ask tjkraz, I've been an AP holder for two years running and I've never been alerted to upcoming discounts. How does one get in this loop?!

(Again, forgive me for going off topic.) and Thank You. :flower:

Are you registered to receive emails on www.Disneyworld.com??

Not sure if it has anything to do with being an AP holder or not - I'm an AP holder - but I think the reason I get the emails about the codes coming out is because I'm registered. I could be wrong but I don't think I ever got the emails before registering on the sight - they must go out to all who are registered and if you DO have an AP then you've been alerted to the codes coming out.

I could be wrong but I think that is why.

AP discounts are still available up to 2/16/05.

Thanks for clarifying. Must have skimmed too quickly.

house_of_princesses: Go to the web address Scoootch posted. In the lower right you should see a link that reads "Passholders." You'll be asked to provide the name and reference number from your AP. This will get you access to an exclusive AP holder portion of the web site. I don't recall what all is there, but you should be able to sign up for the email notices. I've consistently received the messages 24-48 hours before the AP holder codes go into effect. In fact, I started receiving some sort od Disney Insider mailing once a week--I think this originated with the AP signup, but I could be wrong.

Just make sure your spam blocker doesn't catch the messages. :)
