Cash and Waitlist?

If I cannot get a room via point reservation, can I reserve the room on cash and then waitlist it also? Then if the waitlist comes through, can I just cancel the cash reservation? Thank You!

It seems that you can do it because I currently have a cash ressie at HIlton Head linked to my points ressie. I am also on wait list for that day and hope that it comes through. I need to call back on a certain date to have them keep my wait list active.

Only if the cash reservation is booked through MS.

There's no guarantee that a cash night will be available through MS.
