I was wondering the same thing. And given that no father has stepped forward .... :confused3

I know I asked earlier and it was answered that she gave a few different names and they're all deceased but what if? :confused3

Caylee's "dad" was "killed in a car accident" per Casey.

I love how Baez says they focused on Casey and Casey only---yep, that is what happens when a liar doesn't properly assist law enforcement.

I am near tears on this!

Baez is a jerk face liar just like his client.

I want to make it clear that I don't like Casey one bit and I have no doubt she murdered Caylee. But what if George was Casey's father (or at least she thought him to be)? That could help explain why she seemed not to have any sort of emotional bond to the child. I'm not saying this excuses in any way what she did, just throwing that out there.

Exactly!!

And after they found the remains of Caylee, didn't they do some type of autopsy or lab work that would show that she did not die by drowning?

If Casey's defense team is stupid enough to try and say that Caylee drowned, then Casey doesn't stand a chance of being found not guilty.

I'm not a forensics person but I think if all that was left of Caylee's remains were bones they would not be able to discern one or another a drowning. I think you have to have tissue, specifically lungs.

She's crying because she knows what she is doing to her family to get HER out of this trouble.. Im sorry, I don't buy this one bit!

Baez is saying that THEY threw HER under the bus.

OMG...how she learned to lie...she could be 13 yrs old, have her father's ______ in her mouth, and then go off to school. She learned to lie.

My understanding--opening statements are not evidence, nor testimony.

Casey's going to have to get on that dang stand for this so-called "reasonable doubt" to stick!

Gah! Gotta run!

So livid!

Baez...George found Caylee in the pool. Yelled at Casey that it was her fault, her mother will never forgive her. And they covered up her death.

While Casey *could* have suspected this, DNA has totally already ruled that out. George nor Lee are NOT nor could not be the father.

If it were a match, that would be one thing--but there is no match. Not one!

They are trying to do what the prosecution is doing~ there is no proof of murder~ just circumstancial evidence.
The autopsy never could spell out how she died.

Yes, I believe the medical examiner ruled the cause of death as unknown means, not sure if she specified homicide by unknown means or not.

Ah, I didn't know George had been ruled out but I did know Lee was not the father. Thank you for clarifying!

I do still think Casey could have been afraid George was the father though.

So can Baez be sued for this fabrication????

Hog freakin' wash. YOu know of someone who could have done this, you bring it up several years ago. Not at trial after your client spends 3 years in jail.

Balderdash.

OK--really gotta run.

He sure sucks as a defense atty.

And here I was a tiny bit worried that circumstantial evidence wouldn't be enough to find her guilty.

You're probably right.

The police didnt care? Geesh, all Casey did was lie.......

Well, I believe they could get DNA out of Casey's bones. I'm not sure how the fact that George is Casey's father would skew the reading of whether or not he's also Caylee's father, but I do believe it can be done.

All of this ugly speculation was brought up years ago in the case, so I'm sure the Prosecution has done their homework in this regard also. Stating or implying that George is the father is very risky unless the Defense knows the Prosecution had no DNA available to disprove the claim.

If I recall correctly, the swimming pool was suspected & extensively tested & I believe nothing was found. Pretty good straw for the Defense to grasp at.
