Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY & Sentencing Thread 6

I have not found anything on the possible contempt charges. I did find where he was threatened with it back in Feb on this case. Couldn't find out more on that one either.

So down about this whole thing that I am watching a lot of Hallmark movies to improve my mood.

This is another contempt charge that was threatened during the trial. JP issued an order that all expert testimony must be rendered before hand with written report and submitted to the opposing side. He didn't want a trial by ambush concerning the experts.

Baez was continually being admonished for ignoring the order. With one in particular, JP found him to purposely and blatantly ignoring the order and said he would take up possible contempt charges after the trial.

The case of Michelle O’Keefe, 18 years old, college freshman. She was killed in her car and the suspect was Raymond Jennings, the security guard on duty the night of the murder. There were no finger prints, no dna nothing on him and he went on trial 3 times.

2 trials were move to LA and their were hung jury, they were in the deliberation room for 3 weeks on the first trial and were 10-2 to convict, on the second trial also took weeks and were 11-1 because that one juror had a dream. Then it was a 3rd one and the jury were out for weeks too, they said that they went to every single video of the defendant were he lied and contradicted himself, they look at all the details, and they even asked to go to the crime scene, at the end he was found not guilty of premeditated first degree but guilty on the second charge, second degree murder and was sentence to 45 to life.

To me these 3 different jury did their job, they couldn't agree so the stood by and didn't give in, same with the 3rd they went to all the evidence, they asked questions, and it was no evidence liking him to the girl, but he was the killer, he was there, he lied, he was on tape lying and it took 10 years since the day of the murder. Justice was served and the jury did their job, they didn't rush so they could get it over and move on.

ITA ... that is why when I hear the experts on tv saying we don't have to "agree" with the jury's decision, but we have to "respect" it, I disagree ... I'm sorry, but I personally feel that I may have to "accept" the jury's decision, but I don't have to "respect" it ... the reason why? - because I really don't think the jurors gave any "respect" to the evidence that was presented to them ... instead, I think they only focused on the "unproven" theory the defense sold to them - which there was no evidence of, just an "unproven" story ...

Maybe if or when other jurors come forward to share their thoughts, I may in time learn to "respect" their decision, but based upon the interviews given by the two jurors (and two alternate jurors) thus far, IMHO, this jury is "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt" of not giving the evidence a second look ...

sorry to whoever the "expert" was but I sure don't have to respect it and it's for the same reason. I don't think the jury did the job they were supposed to.

Hopefully something will come of it.

These were jurys that did the job right. I would be upset even if the jury came back guilty and I heard them talking like they are. They couldn't even follow the rules.

Poor Zenaida Gonzales has on Telemundo the other day, she said that Casey destroyed her life with her lies, that she was kicked out of her apartment, her kids were single out at school, she lost her job, her car was vandalized because people thought she had taken Caylee, the Feds ransack her house, she said the her life changed completely because of KC lies and that she was so angry and sick when she was found not guilty. Poor lady, I felt bad for her.

And she and her kids also received death threats! :sad2: I feel terribly for her. Casey did a real number on her and she deserves some kind of compensation!

I feel bad for juror number 12, but her reaction seems quite odd to me.

I find it really odd, the only reason I could see her leaving is the way the vote went. I dont know if she was one for the opposite vote in the first place, but it doesnt matter where you go. You have to live with how you voted and what happend in the jury room. I havent heard anyone else running or any death threats. So not sure why she would run.

To add to my depression, I am now watching a program showing the cascade of failures by the justice and parole system in the Casey Dugard story.

The juror leaving seems odd? Nancy Grace has people so riled that I don't blame the juror for leaving. I would have left too. The bin has released the loonies and hopefully one of those nuts doesn't harm a juror.

I happened to be flipping through the channels tonight and stopped at HLN with Nancy Grace for about 20 seconds. She said "tot mom" at least 5 times. I couldn't stand it, I couldn't change it fast enough. She's an attorney and a commentator on a news channel. Why is she calling a defendant in a case by a nickname? I agree, she is trying to rile people up and also increase her ratings. She hit a gold mine. If there would have been a guilty verdict, how much would she have to talk about now? People would have moved on.

:rotfl: We all have Casey on the brain don't we? The woman on the ABC special is JAYCEE Dugard :thumbsup2.

This is the best blaming Nancy Grace for Casey's acquittal:

She's disgusting. If you google there are lots of stories about her lying as a prosecutor, falsifying evidence, etc. She plays lily white but she has a dark lying past.

I wonder how Cassey is going to answer at this depo. The attorney is trying to get the info that Linda Bauden said on 48 hours in this case. Not sure how that would work. This should be very interesting.

Actually, I just have old brain! It is no fun, believe me ;) sometimes I don't get own kids names right!

I finally watched NGs special. It was not as outrageous as I anticipated. She is stuck on the tawtmom thing though.

Just sitting here realizing that if I stmble upon a body in trash bags in the woods I am now going to think.....Given the rate of sexual abuse in this country, this is probably just an accident!

Thank you JB and jury for my new view askew.

That's all fine and dandy, but Nancy Grace isn't on trial here. I don't have cable and live in the PNW, so I never saw any of the media frenzy people are talking about. I watched the trial footage online. . .one of the local Orlando channels (WFTV. . just looked ON THE FIRST POST, Mare!) and only saw a little commentary. . . and I still thought the jury didn't do their job!!!

I would have happily accepted a not guilty verdict if I thought, through my own reasoning, that it was justified in the eyes of the jury. . .but so far what we have heard from those that have spoken out. . .uh. . .weren't sure if ICA was Caylee's "caretaker". . . .really!!!??? :confused3 The definition was right there in the darn jury instructions! GRRRRRRR. :headache: They didn't feel like their was enough evidence to give her the death penalty. But, as I'm sure you know, they are not to consider sentencing during the deliberation of a verdict. And. . .big AND. . .in sentencing the burden of proof is only preponderance of the evidence, not proof beyond a reasonable doubt! We didn't know how she died. . .so. You don't have to know that to convict. They bought the drowning story, without any evidence. . .without it making any logical sense. The DT could have said she died from complications of Alzheimer's and they would have went with that. . .cause they didn't have any concrete proof of how she died. But is that reasonable? No. . .we all know that toddler's don't die from complications of Alzheimer's. .. just like we know that toddlers that accidentally drown in the family pool don't end up in the woods wrapped in garbage bags and duct tape. . .after spending a few hot days in their Mom's car. Knowing how or why a victim died has NOTHING to do with the burden of proof. It certainly helps, but it's not required.

The public has just as much right to be outraged and vocal about how they feel as much as ICA had a right to a trial by jury. The 6th Amendment doesn't outweigh the 1st. The verdict stands. . .and people can voice how much they don't like it and think the jury didn't meet their responsibilities. Riddle me this Joker. . .if the jury really did have any "reasonable" doubt why did they know the public was going to find fault with their verdict? What was it inside of them that knew they were going against what most people following along felt?
