I can't quite completely understand it either. Its all very confusing to me. Just when I think it makes sense..boom!

During the endless sidebars, the commentators were always trying to fill in the silence by talking to local defense attorneys. They disgusted hearsay all the time and it never made sense to me.

The night that court went really late and they proffered a few different people was the night there was an interesting/funny conversation on hearsay.

I am thinking everyone was slaphappy and just joking around but the attorneys had 25+ years experience each, tried multiple death penalty cases and they said they don't always understand hearsay. They were joking that they object and site hearsay as the reason all the time and when they win an objection they think, "Really? So that was hearsay? Hmmm, didn't think I'd win that one." It was really a funny discussion, and while I think they were greatly exaggerating due to exhaustion and the fact that they were running out of things to talk about, I have to think there was a little bit of truth behind it.

Hi everyone. I've been gone since Thursday, but my mom mentioned the new release date for Casey. Does anyone think they are just doing this so everyone thinks she is out on the 17th, but really she is still going to leave on the 13th? Or is there any proof of it anywhere?

If she is listed on the Orange county Incarcerations website, she is currently there. It is kept up to date. If she is missing on the 14th, I guess we will know...

According to the DT, KC did not kill Caylee. So, I guess they are not worried about her rehabilitarion. One of the psych docs who evaluated her did not find her to meet all the diagnostic criteria for sociopathy.

Unfortuately, we get to see just how she will do with another chance at society. I'm with those predicting she will get in trouble again. I do think the jury decision will bolster her and shows how effective confabulation is for her.

If Tracy testfied about her actual interactions why would it be hearsay?

I really think the jury went to 'deliberate' and just took a vote on which story they liked better. No thoughtful consideration, no going over evidence in detail (like we all do, going back over timelines and double checking facts). They just went back took a vote and went with that.

Someone else compared it to a game of rock, paper, scissors.....ok, we're done!

Actually I was watching JVM the other day and she was outside OCJ and talking to inmates who were being released and they said the guards told them she was gone. The ironic part was as Jean was talking a car pulled up slowly behind her with black windows made a slow u turn and then left. I thought it would be just like Casey to pull something like that.

If Casey did not have any psych or emotional problems growing up in that home, it would be a miracle. It's been my experience that many psychiatrists are crazier than their patients.

Their conversations probably would have been considered hearsay.
The theory of the rule excluding hearsay is that assertions made by human beings are often unreliable; such statements are often insincere, subject to flaws in memory and perception, or infected with errors in narration at the time they are given. Furthermore, someone testifying in court regarding another's out-of-court statement may have misheard or misremembered that statement, in addition to possibly having misinterpreted the speaker's sincerity, etc. The law therefore finds it necessary to subject this form of evidence to “scrutiny or analysis calculated to discover and expose in detail its possible weaknesses, and thus to enable the tribunal (judge or jury) to estimate it at no more than its actual value”

She could have given her impressions of Casey's behavior though. "It was my impression, blah, blah..."

BTW, there is a billboard off of I-4 near downtown that said "New Release Date for Casey Anthony!" It was a digital, and it was changing as I drove past, so I don't know if it had the release date on there or not. I also heard but have not confirmed that the state (or city?) is providing her with security when she gets out. And that seriously ticks me off.

There was another guest on HLN who said he believes she is in custody of the US Marshal Svc. in a safe house that he has seen it done before for high risk inmates. It is very possible and IMOP, most likely the case. If anything were to happen to her on the state's/ county's watch then they would have a huge lawsuit on their hands.

That would not be Casey's decision to make. She is still an inmate.

ITA ... that is why when I hear the experts on tv saying we don't have to "agree" with the jury's decision, but we have to "respect" it, I disagree ... I'm sorry, but I personally feel that I may have to "accept" the jury's decision, but I don't have to "respect" it ... the reason why? - because I really don't think the jurors gave any "respect" to the evidence that was presented to them ... instead, I think they only focused on the "unproven" theory the defense sold to them - which there was no evidence of, just an "unproven" story ...

Maybe if or when other jurors come forward to share their thoughts, I may in time learn to "respect" their decision, but based upon the interviews given by the two jurors (and two alternate jurors) thus far, IMHO, this jury is "guilty beyond a reasonable doubt" of not giving the evidence a second look ...

Did people's attitude not change toward her after Casey was arrested? If people kept up the harassment even after Casey was picked up, she needed to move away. It's pathetic if they kept bothering her.

You know, I understand what you mean, but I suspect that she felt like she shouldn't have to move. She had done nothing wrong. Apparently, Orlando was her home. I think she deserves to win, and I hope it cleans out anything Casey Anthony ever gets.

Has anyone heard anything about the contempt charges Judge Perry was going to bring against Baez after the trial was over? If that happens, its pretty serious because it could affect his law license.

I have not found anything on the possible contempt charges. I did find where he was threatened with it back in Feb on this case. Couldn't find out more on that one either.

So down about this whole thing that I am watching a lot of Hallmark movies to improve my mood.
