Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY & Sentencing Thread 6

She'll need to make a lot of money of this as they are saying she owes $70,000 in taxes as she didnt claim the $200,000 she made on selling photos............maybe that will be her karma that sends her sorry but to jail. I'm hoping you can end up in jail in the USA for not paying your taxes.......

She won't owe the state a dime.

Anyone who worked pro Bono---this victory is why!

But, the IRS sits ready and waiting for her. She isn't quite Richard Hatch...but they will be keeping a closer eye on her as well as addressing the taxes, penalties, late fees and interest on her failure to report $200,000 in income.

People with a conscience will not contribute to

her shennanigans.

Anyway, Casey is the type who will have that money spent before she even receives it. I see her piddling any/all money away in no time and ending up mooching from friends in a matter of years with people taking advantage of her at every turn.

Do you think Tony's going to go back to her? Do you think she's going to be able to go out and party? I think that there will be so much staring and pointing fingers and whatnot that, eventually, it will make her life horrible.

She can do what she wants to change her looks/name/etc. but we know how she likes to be the center of attention, so I don't think she'll be able to keep herself "hidden" for long.

Also, if she makes a lot of money and is no longer indigent, won't she have to pay attorney fees?

I don't think CM should be ashamed. As someone who followed this case for 3 years (on another forum, mind you), I believe the media is very much at fault for what happened today. Certainly he rubbed it in their face, but it was people like Nancy Grace who disqualified many potential jurors because of all of the discovery evidence they discussed and the "trying" of the case before the case was actually being tried.

Maybe the media deserved to have CM throw things in their face, because maybe they'll realize how much they influenced this case. And, the media does not stop with just the talking heads who were going on daily about this case, it goes to the people writing shows like CSI. It's shows like these that misrepresent the process, and put a tougher burden on the State to create the "Aha!" moment in order to convict.

I said it earlier, but CM did the same thing until he was hired by the defense. He was on TV saying Casey was guilty. HE IS NO DIFFERENT THAN WHAT HE IS LASHING OUT ABOUT. HE IS A JOKE!

I didn't see Nancy Grace tonight. What did she say about it?

So it isn't hypocritcal for him to say this when he himself did interviews as a legal analyst BEFORE he signed on the defense team and proclaimed she'd be found guilty or plea out and get at least life in prison?

I feel the need to add something here........NANCY GRACE IS A MORON. thanks.....

:thumbsup2 Exactly. "No offense" but go away (and I mean that in the nicest way possible) :rotfl2: Seriously, though, you don't post on 1250 pages and now when we are trying to work through our thoughts and heartache, you feel it is appropriate to come over here and argue. Start your own thread called, "I am so thrilled a child murderer was able to get off today" and go to town.

I wasn't around for the first Casey Anthony Murder Trial threads. I saw no need to look for those threads. The trial was in progress, and I assumed that none of you Disers knew what info any witness was going to offer. I came over to discuss the verdict. I should have known better.

You can't convict someone of murder based on what you "think", it has to be proven. I feel Casey had something to do with this and her behavior was repulsive, but you can't send someone to jail for their life based on repulsive behavior or because you "think" she had something to do with it. The prosecution had to prove she did this and they failed. I watched the trial periodically throughout the last few weeks and honed in the last week. I truly felt that she was going to walk.

Wait - you didn't watch the entire trial? You are aware that the majority of people here did, aren't you? That there is a huge difference between basing an opinion on seeing everything and basing it on only seeing parts.

Ok, but at least I am one your side. lol

I don't care what side you're on. Prosecution/Defense ... just as long as you can back up what you say. And, if you're asked to elaborate or give "proof", then respond and just don't throw junk out there and not defend what you've written.

I'm confused. Did anyone see the alternate jury speaking on tv?? I read somewhere that his mind was made up after opening statements and just wondering if thats true as i thought opening statements were not facts in the case and were not to be considered............

I need to quit reading as the more i do the more upset i get..........

I feel the need to add something here........NANCY GRACE IS A MORON. thanks.....

Well perhaps the fact that her fiance was murdered shortly before they were to get married that she became a prosecutor and now does this on tv...she tries to take up for voiceless victims....does she go over the top? Sure she does...but to call her a moron?

That's out of line, if you ask me.

I don't think they did fail

.

Why. Tell us why and we can discuss/debate. Not "the jury said so" either ;)

He did not admonish the writers of fiction teleVision.

He also engaged in the conduct be is condemning.

So yes--he should be ashamed.

Funny we are now blaming television shows. I used to watch them until they got too gross for me. I am able to discern they real life doesn't work that way. I also am able to figure out that CSI only helps get the person arrested. The show doesn't cover indictment or conviction.

I don't require a smoking gun and not all those who do watch those shows anyway.

UnfortunatLy--if the jury thought like Mr Alternate did...they convicted George. Without proof, of course.

Such a sad day. A sad sad day.

Cheney mason should be ashamed for what he said in the press conference.

The prosecution reminded folks in theirs that they had a legal requirement to make what they bad public. They never ran to the media. Ever!

Defense did though! Even their former attorneys (ahem! LKB!)

at first I thought he was referring to the Prosecution then realized they haven't said diddly. i think he was referring to the lawyers that have been on HLN, Nancy Grace show, etc.

How could you miss them? They were always on page one, usually in the top 5 threads! Totally unavoidable!!!! lol! (I'm not being mean when I say this ... it's just that the CA threads were always at the top every time I would log in!)

You probably think the OJ jury did the right thing as well.

I did not follow that one as closely. However, that case has nothing to do with this case.

I did, and my point is that sometimes, the jury flat out gets it wrong.

I followed the OJ trial, and the defense team was awesome and the prosecutors botched the presentation of some pretty serious evidence. I don't blame the jury for that verdict.

This defense team was unprepared most of the time and out-classed by a prosecution team that was on the ball. I think they did prove their case, and I expected a guilty verdict on one of the murder charges. I do blame the jury for this verdict.

I've read everything about this trial. Even so, if you presented me with ALL the evidence now, I would still say the jury did the right thing. There was no proof. You need proof (beyond doubt..blah blah blah) if you want a conviction.

People may hate Casey or feel she acted horrendously, but that does not mean she murdered her child. I said earlier and I will say it again. Casey probably has something to do with this, but the state of Florida failed to prove that. You can't fault the jury for returning a not guilty verdict, I would have voted the same way.

I didn't see Nancy Grace tonight. What did she say about it?

I saw only part of the begining. She had on the former fiance and his dad, I can't remember their names. The dad wanted to say something about how he saw Cindy treat Casey, I wanted to hear what he had to say. Well, Nancy wouldn't have it and talked over him and he did not get one word in. I switched the station at that point.
