Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY & Sentencing Thread 6

Had to come post that Jeff Ashton will be on NBC Today show tomorrow morning at 7:08 am as per martha sugalski tweet.

Someone please tell me that they're going to get Cindy on perjury charges now that there won't be any appeals.
I will be shocked, if the state doesn't run from perjury charges.. IMO

I don't think CM should be ashamed. As someone who followed this case for 3 years (on another forum, mind you), I believe the media is very much at fault for what happened today. Certainly he rubbed it in their face, but it was people like Nancy Grace who disqualified many potential jurors because of all of the discovery evidence they discussed and the "trying" of the case before the case was actually being tried.
.
You can't convict someone of murder based on what you "think", it has to be proven. I feel Casey had something to do with this and her behavior was repulsive, but you can't send someone to jail for their life based on repulsive behavior or because you "think" she had something to do with it. The prosecution had to prove she did this and they failed.
Unpopular opinions, but I agree.

Put yourself in the jurys shoes. Seriously.....you are chosing to send this person away for life and you find yourself saying "well it looks like she did it"
"It seems like she did it". You need to be sure....the prosecution did not seal the deal and she walked. Its not about a video or anything like that.....the state knew they had a weak case and they still went for murder 1.

I've done that - I'm not basing this just on pure emotion, believe me. And I think that at the very least she should be charged with child abuse and one of the lesser murder charges.

I think the prosecution proved beyond a reasonable doubt that she killed Caylee and the dead body was in her car, and that she then placed her in the woods near her home, a familiar spot.

The one thing I couldn't decide was if it was premeditated or an accident. So I would have voted for one of the lesser murder charges. But I WOULD have voted guilty.

I just ate an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's to make myself feel better. And it worked a little, except now I feel sick that just ate an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's.

I think she's going to get a makeover, go on the talk show circuit (first stop Geraldo). Then she's going to find a love interest, and I would not be surprised in the slightest if it's Baez. She'll get pregnant, he'll refuse to leave his wife (have you seen her??), and she'll be seen at Home Depot buying duct tape....

I think they would have gotten her if they went for a lesser charge and not Murder 1. I really think going for the death penalty and murder 1 blew it for them.

31 days of partying does not prove she killed her daughter.

And neither does the cylinder laundry bag that Caylee's body was in. The one that was sold in a set of two along with the rectangular one that was left at the Anthony home.

And neither does the duct tape that was unusual as it was discontinued in 2007 and the only place it was found was at the Anthony house.

And neither does the blanket that came from the Anthony's home that was with Caylee's body.

And neither does the gatorade bottle of chloroform that was found near the body ... and odd how there were searches for how to make chloroform done by Casey on the computer months before Caylee went missing.

And neither does the strand of Caylee's hair with decomp banding that was found in the trunk.

However, the fact that all of these things are tied to Casey, along with the way that Casey handled it all, tells me this had to have been a cover up for something more than accidental drowning.

If it were an accident, why would you make an accident look like a murder? Why would you create a story about a fake nanny kidnapping your child as your first alabi if it were an accident? That keeps ringing in my mind.

I am afraid that I feel this jury's performance is virtual proof of the "dunbing down" of America. I know in many ways that sounds like a terrible thing to say, but I find myself searching for some explanation!

People should protest the shows that she tries to appear on. However, we are a weird culture.......while we hate her, we will tune in by the millions to hear her story. BTW....what kind of B&J's? :)

This story in general makes me feel even more disgusted.

Defense attorneys Jose Baez and Cheney Mason celebrated their victory shortly after the not-guilty verdicts were read with a champagne toast at Terrace 390, a restaurant onNorth Orange Ave.

But as word of their gathering got out, people clustered in front of the restaurant's glass doors, where spectators could see attorneys hanging out with about 20 other people inside, including TV personality Geraldo Rivera.

"They shouldn't be celebrating," said Wanda Tyler of Orlando. "A little girl is dead and they helped her killer go free."

Spectator Patrick Fowler, of Tampa, called out for Baez to leave the restaurant. He didn't think justice had been served and made that known. Baez, who was drinking what appeared to be a beer, looked up and smiled a few times.

One of his drinking companions, a tall, slender man wearing a plaid shirt, came close to the door and made a lewd gesture with hand.

Pictures: See Casey Anthony's reaction to the verdict.

A couple of minutes later, Mason moved closer to the door and made a lewd gesture at Fowler.

Honestly, common sense is lost these days. People can't/don't think, critical thinking skills are lost. This verdict is proof positive of what is happening in this country--the dumbing down of society. The natural love between a mother and child--none here--she murdered her child, Caylee cramped her style. I am beyond disgusted with it all.

I completely agree. No sense of personal responsibility at all. If I can blame someone else for my actions, I cannot be held accountable.

Well said. Physical evidence linking Casey directly and/or a cause of death she could be tied to is what I was hoping to see.

We did

She was the last person to see her alive, she didn't report her missing until confronted after 31 days, she continued to lie after wards, everything connected to the found body can be connected her, some exclusively (the shirt cinched that one). the deleted files is a conscientiousness of guilt, the stories in the OS were not evidence, she asked for one more day on the 911 call, the smell of death in the trunk, the banded hair that maternally mitochondria (sp) connect to only Caylee, and duct tape wrapped around a head is murder.

There was no abuse proven, there was no proof of an accident offered

No, we don't have to-if people don't watch the media will stop. The only justice for Cayle is to not let Casey be the "rock star" she thinks she is.

Tells you that this little girl touched a lot of hearts and that all those hearts are broken tonight

The story of Casey's life and she gets away with it once again. The only one who has truly paid for Casey's reckless life is Caylee. :sad2:

I was riding back home on last day of vacation when my cell phone alerted on the verdict.

I just don't understand how they came to that decision. :sad1:

Poor Caylee. No justice for Caylee.

Casey will get hers when she dies.

31 days of partying does not prove she killed her daughter. 84 searches for Cholyroform does not prove she killed her daughter. .

Didn't a defense witness state, that all but one..chloroform search, was actually on myspace?
