Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY & Sentencing Thread 6

Yeah, but that form does not explain the burden of proof that must be reached to determine guilt with each charge. That is up to the judge. Has this been discussed? Did the jurors understand?

There is a jury instructions form.. I have to find it and post it. There is a definition of Reasonable Doubt. Most of our contention is that reasonable doubt does NOT mean having a reason to doubt.

They seem to have taken the Opening Statements as evidence to provide a doubt. They seem to have taken the word of a convicted, self professed liar to pour doubt over George Anthony who was never a suspect and never proven to be lying. They seem to have used GA as doubt which makes absolutely no sense to me.

And the last 2 LOGICAL questions remain.. 1) Why would anyone make an accident look like murder and 2) Why would she sit in jail for 3 years and wait until day 1 of the trial to claim it was an accident.

As a jury, they were instructed and advised that they can make logical inferences. They were told that circumstantial evidence IS evidence. They seem to have ignored all of that in search of a SMOKING GUN, or otherwise called, the CSI effect. Common sense be d$$$$!

That form is just the tip of the iceberg. There were over twenty pages - an explanation for each charge.

The defense made a horrendous accusation of George in open court without evidence.

Understandably--any man accused of that and being questioned on that for someone using you as the scapegoat...may put them a little on edge.

Because of that, the jury--per their explanation--were suspect of George. They judged his demeanor and decided that because of that, they could not find Casey guilty, because his behavior shows he might have something to do with it.

All without any burden of proof on the defense to back it up.

So while they may make any claims they want--bottom line, their decision was based on absence of evidence.

They did not judge Casey's behavior in the courtroom. And she was accused of ending a child's life.:confused3

(not smacking you down or anything...the subject just gets my goat. ;))

Don't know if this has been posted yet:

"Caylee Anthony's Possible Grandmother Hires O.J.'s Lawyer, Eyes Wrongful Death Suit" -

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusiv...mother-hires-oj-lawyer-wrongful-death-lawsuit

I hope she can prove that she is Caylee's grandmother because, IMO, I think someone should sue Casey for wrongful death ...

I am thinking that the first and foremost reason of the lawsuit is that it would force a DNA check to see if if paternity for her son was possible.

Without it--the Anthony's could ignore her forever.

And if she is grandma--Casey Anthony better watch out!

Welcome! I personally think the jury really is just that stupid. They believed the opening statements, disregarded jury instructions and never heard a word of the prosecution's case. (they think George did it)
They wanted to go home, so without ever going over the evidence presented they took a vote and Jose's story won. Easy-peasy.

Shocking, isn't it? So either they are as dumb as it gets, or they were tampered with. Which it certainly possible, but I don't think it was George who did the tampering. ;)

And they were specifically instructed to not use opening and closing statements as part of their decision-making, regarding their verdict. They must have completely disregarded that.

I really do not have much respect for the jury members, at least the ones who have been publicly interviewed. Especially that one alternate juror (the teacher, I believe) who was the first to speak publicly. He just sounds like an idiot. Some of his statements just seem absurd, IMO.

Not that it matters, because we know that Casey killed Caylee on June 16, but shouldn't it have been brought up by someone that although Casey was living with Tony from that date on, she didn't bring any Caylee's stuff with her? Did Tony think that Caylee was still living with Cindy and George, or did she just always have a reason for why Caylee wasn't around? Because if it is that she always had a reason for why Caylee wasn't around, I would (as someone else living in that apartment) expect to see baby things even if I never saw the baby.

Forgive me if this was answered on the other threads. I didn't start lurking until the one right before the closing arguments started.

If she lived with the guy, why did she need to call her parents and brother for Tony's phone number her first night in jail?

My husband has had his new cell phone number for almost a year and I just sort of memorized it recently. Can't think of it off the top of my head right now. But it is in my phone and I just click his name and my phone does the rest.

Gotta give Casey some slack on that one little detail.

Well if she's like me, she just stores numbers in her phone and doesn't memorize them. She didn't have her phone in jail. I couldn't even tell you my mom's phone number.

She didn't really live with the guy. She was hiding out from her parents , unbeknown to Tony!

I think she had his number programmed and didn't know it? Or he changed it? Never really thought about it.

Probably because it's programmed into her cell phone and that's the only way she ever called him.

Thanks. It just seemed a little odd to me that she didn't know the phone number. I didn't think about programming it and forgetting it. I guess I'm just anal and I memorize every number in my phone. LOL

Tony was told that Caylee was always somewhere else. Also, keep in mind that Tony didn't want Caylee staying overnight with them (unlike a previous boyfriend who didn't care that she actually slept with them). Based on everything that has been provided, I don't know that Tony would have said that Casey had actually "moved in" even though she was there for that extended time with him, she was really just kind of staying there at that time. He definitely did NOT consider Caylee as living with them.

I doubt seriously that the woman is Caylee's grandmother (her son was actually living in TN at the time working for a moving company based on what she said on one of the shows), BUT I sure HOPE she is, and I hope she adds yet another layer of lawsuits that can take anything Casey acquires. :thumbsup2

I saw that Baez and Cheney won't be representing Casey in her Zanny case. I wonder how she feels about that - with them being her new family and all? :rolleyes1

I always thought it was very telling that one night when Casey called her parent's home and wanted Tony's phone number. That was the upper-most thing on her mind, talking to Tony....not being concerned about Caylee. I thought that little jail house phone call spoke volumes.

She was probably all worried at that point in time that Tony was going to dump her. I bet Tony's relieved that he dodged that bullet.

Way back when, before the days of cell phones, I knew the numbers of pretty much everybody I called. My cousin and I were discussing this just the other day. Now, with the exception of those really close to me (husband, daughter, son-in-law, parents, and the actual landline numbers that I still remember), I know very few numbers. As others have said, I pull up names now, not numbers.

I bet she's ticked about it, since she thinks their lives revolve around her...I guess not so, anymore.

I wonder who will represent her? Who would take that kind of case with her as a client?
