Casey Anthony NOT GUILTY & Sentencing Thread 6

From what I understand when the tape was first brought up the DT stated it wouldn't be fair to show KC reacting to "a childs" remains being found. As if hypothetically it would have been the same reaction if she saw a different video every day of the week.

Unfortunately the judge bought this hook, line, and sinker and would have been a correct judgment in my opinion if there had not been statements made of the other time she saw the news about the remains being found in Blanchard Park and had Zero reaction. Maybe there isnt a video of that and its only hearsay, but I wish the prosecution had pushed for this video more since JP was a different judge than the one that sealed the video... if they could.

I wonder if the state tried to get Perry to unseal it.

It wouldn't have mattered.

She would have just said that is where her dad put Caylee.

It would have been twisted to the advantage of the defense by whatever lie Case could come up with to respond to the video.

Just a tweak of the open and it would have been a non-factor.

Too true. The jury would still have concluded it was an accident. Duct tape, trash bags, swamps, lies...these all spell accident to this talented jury.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The former Casey Anthony trial judge says while the verdict surprised him, it didn't surprise him that the defense tried to suggest George Anthony played a role in covering up an accident.

"Every time I think about (the verdict), it throws me for a loop," Judge Stan Strickland told WESH 2 News.

Click Like For Casey Anthony Updates: "I can't say I was surprised," Strickland said about the George Anthony theory. "Once the Kronk thing fell through, they couldn't go after Kronk. Well who's up next? George was a likely suspect."

The jury foreman told Fox News the jury had doubts about George.

"There was suspicion of him," the unidentified man told Greta van Susteren.

The foreman said he was sickened and disgusted to sign the not guilty verdict form knowing Anthony may have been responsible for Caylee's death, but like other jurors said he felt the state did not prove how she died. Strickland said that attitude could reflect a fundamental misunderstanding.

"Circumstantial evidence is still evidence. Seldom are cameras running when someone kills a child or a child is abused," he said.

Strickland said juror personalities can be the difference between one side caving in to the will of the other and a hung jury resulting in a new trial.

"Juries are almost always about cults of personalities. The strong personalities always seem to prevail," he said.

Chief Judge Belvin Perry Jr. took the case over in 2010 after Strickland stepped down over a defense complaint."

ok so this is anyother juror who didn't have the balls to stand up to the others. so that makes what 3 or 4 now who have said it sickens them????

yet it only took 11 hours for the others to twist their arms back enough to make them cry uncle and cave???

if they were so sickened why not cause a hung jury and come out saying we wanted to convict but others didn't so let the state fix their case and try again.

her needing therapy to move on like those who's children or parents are killed in an accident or by illness is laughable.

Yeah - a girl who went out partying and entered a hot body contest really needs loads of grief counseling. She was so diistraught on those 31 days before she admitted that Caylee was "missing" (cough) as well as the days that followed (when that Padilla guy's friend was watching her).

That is a flipping insult to all those who lost a child through means other than at their own hands ....

correct me if kI am wrong they didnt need to know how she died. So as foreman doubts linger and you sign a form. Okay I am really livid. The man who held the power not sign and not cave .

A few hours after the verdict was read, one of the defense attorneys that had been a commentator throughout the trial made a comment that I agreed with. She said something like Baez and Co. did their job for their client and now they need to move on and wash their hands of her. She said something like, "Unfortunately, Baez' lack of experience and need for fame won't allow him to walk away from this. Instead of allowing his win to speak for itself and move on to the next case, he will stick with it and it will come unraveled."

In light of their new "theory" maybe she is right!

Kind of like NG

According to Juror #3 they were sick to their stomachs and crying before they were ever released from being sequestered. . .so that really doesn't fly.

Another juror said they were sick because they felt she was guilty but the state had not proved their case.

The reason the jurors were sick to their stomachs after coming up with the verdict was because they KNEW that their verdict was going to be an extremely unpopular one per one of the alternate jurors. (ETA - maybe it was juror #3 who said that)

If this is the case, then I admire them for making what they thought was the right decision based the prosecution's failure to prove their case to the jury's satisfaction.

That's quite a generalization. Really, you think all those people outside the courthouse were "crazies"?

While I might not choose to wait outside the courthouse for a verdict, I feel the same anger and outrage that those people were/are probably feeling. Nothing wrong with them being there and expressing their feelings, as long as they were doing it peacefully.

If you read my post, it did not say they were all crazies. There were some nuts out there. Did you see some of them interviewed or read some of the signs?

It was the prior judge who sealed it. Yes she reacted before they knew who it was. I wonder if they taped the issue of finding bones in Blanchard park?

If they did, it wouldn't have mattered. Baez would've said she had no reaction to the Blanchard Park finding because the body wasn't identified and she was hoping it wasn't Caylee. He'd go on to say that she reacted to the 2nd video because what are the chances that it wouldn't be Caylee this time. What are the chances that a second body wouldn't be Caylee's?

Baez would've twisted it to make it work in Casey's favor.

Yep. . .don't have to know how she died. . .just that she did. do any of you remember a case awhile back, in Canada I think it was, where the husband put the wife through a wood chipper? He was found guilty and I'm pretty sure we will never know exactly how she died. . .all that really matters is that the victim is in fact dead. :headache:

Did you see some of them interviewed or read some of the signs?

I saw some of them interviewed and I didn't think anyone was crazy. Passionate, yes. Crazy? I didn't see that. I saw a lot of upset people, people who were stunned and shocked.

People protesting after a verdict like that isn't a shock. People did it after OJ and Michael Jackson's verdicts. Baby murderer signs? There were people out there with the same signs at Susan Smith's trial. Nothing new ... doesn't make a person crazy ... makes them impassioned. The sign about a village missing 12 of their idiots -- I call that clever!

They didn't need to know how. They wanted a smoking gun ... plain and simple.

Great. . .I would love to hear what that "reasonable" doubt was based on the evidence. . . .not the DT's opening statement. . .not the fact that they failed in their responsibilities to get clarification on a definition they did not understand. I'm patiently waiting to hear. . . .

Drew Peterson's wife has never been found. No cause of death, when there is no body.

I hope he gets a more intelligent jury.

Just like no cause of death when there are only skeletal remains left. However, like Dr. G. said it was either accidental or homicide and, when a skeleton is found in the manner Caylee's was found in, it had to be homicide.

I also hope Drew Peterson gets a more intelligent jury! Maybe he should think about hiring Baez ...

He's a suspect in the deaths of 2 of his wives and there are witnesses to him being abusive. That's a different set of circumstances.

Lets face it a couple of them had plans and they wanted to take advantage of and still be the juror of note on the trial. No one will ever convince me differently . I wonder if they did not have prior plans ie cruise or trip to London if they would have spent more time OR WHY woudl they not just go for the hung jury.

HLN is now reporting that Ann Finnel is saying now that we really don't know what happened to caylee and they think Casey does not know. AND she said she thinks there are other players in this.

OMG are they kidding. What a travesty. JB said specifically at the trial. what had happened.

:scared1:Wait ... what!?!?

Ann Finnell says that she doesn't think Casey knows what happened to Caylee!?! :scared1: Is she freaking kidding me?! Unbelievable that they think Casey doesn't know!!!! :sad2: Seems like the whole defense team is drinking the Casey Kool-Aid!

This is just so flipping insane!!!! I am quite sure that Casey knows EXACTLY what happened to Caylee. How can they be so blind (or is it stupid)? :sad2:

Just a couple of days after the verdict, Cheney Mason said in an interview with Jean Casarez something about the loss of Caylee, who died "somehow". I practically screamed at my TV, "she died SOMEHOW???? I thought your defense team said she drowned!!" I was furious that it was as plain as day that the whole drowning story was a big fat lie, and the jury bought it hook, line, and sinker.

So now other defense team members are saying the same thing.......that we will never know what happened to poor Caylee. I think Vinnie Politan is as disgusted as most of the country over the verdict and this obvious lie. His show is on right now, and he is really up in arms, too.

Is there anything that can legally be done if a defense (or heck--a prosecutor!) were to do this.

If she were found guilty and prosecutors contradicted themselves and changed the story after trial, that would certainly come up on appeal.

But when defense does it--it is called constitutional freedoms of innocent until proven guilty.:confused3

Oh good heavens ... why am I not shocked. They were fed lie upon lie and probably came up with a dozen different scenarios, picked one out of a hat and can no longer remember what story they picked anymore. :sad2:

i always found it interesting that the prosecution only gets one chance but the defense can file dozens of appeals to keep going and going and going until finally someone agrees and sets up either a new trial or lets them go.

while i agree that going after a defendant over and over if you can't prove your case is wrong but when the defence leaves the court house and basically says we faked and lied so the jury would go our way and there's jack s you can do about it isn't right either.

i get double jeopardy but if a defendant admits it or comes out and more evidence is found that proves they did it the state should get a second shot - new evidence new charges.

BUT it must be new evidence - not held back evidence

I have a few questions:

Question number 1 -Why didn't the prosecution bring in the "VIDEOTAPE" from jail of Casey getting sick, bending over with stomach pains, when she found out the media found "a" body in the woods near her home? That SCREAMS that she's guilty. When volunteers found bones near another part of Florida she does nothing of the sort, she only got sick and started "heeving" when they found a body near her home. Don't you think that would have been crucial evidence.

Question number 2. On June 16th there were her cell phone "pings" that were in the imediate area of her parents house. She never went to work, never was in Tampa, it was a LIE! Why wasn't that brought up? This gave her plenty of time to kill Caylee at her mothers house.

Question number 3 - Why didn't they bring in the time line of when she borrowed the shovel from a neighbor on June 18th?
