Casey Anthony Civil Trials Discussion

I agree, her own child was too much of a bother, I don't think she'll mess with someone elses...I would however, want to know if she was in my community......I mean, technically she could get a job working with kids at a daycare or summer camp or something, well if she ever got a job.

AND...I'd want to take her picture and post it on this thread. :teeth:

Cheney Mason: Jose Baez no longer Casey's attorney

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — One of Casey Anthony's attorneys, Cheney Mason, confirmed on national television that her lead attorney, Jose Baez, is no longer Casey's attorney.
After weeks of speculation, Mason said on "In Session" Thursday night that Baez hasn't been representing Casey for months.

But when WFTV checked the clerk of courts website, Baez had not filed a notice that he's no longer representing her.

Mason said he and Lisabeth Fryer are representing Casey in her appeal and her probation.

My reaction? ..OK

Guess Baez better hustle and find another money maker or he'll be back in the bikini business!

Casey Anthony! You've Got Sum Splainin' To Do! Judge Orders Her To Answer Search Party's Questions

While Casey Anthony walks around free as a bird, the search party that was looking for Caylee AFTER Casey knew she had died wants some answers.

A Florida judge has ordered Anthony to answer two questions from Texas Equusearch.

The search party had more questions for Anthony but since she's appealing her "lying to authorities" charge, the two questions were deemed the only ones that wouldn't incriminate her.

The two questions are:

Admit that you did not observe or hear George Anthony call 911 at any time to report that he or you had discovered that Caylee Marie Anthony had drowned in the swimming pool at your parents' house on or about June 16, 2008?

Admit that you were aware in September 2008 and October 2008 that EquuSearch was conducting searches for your daughter?

Casey has 10 days to answer the questions on the judge's order.

I'm trying to get through old shows I have recorded, and I've got a JVM episode from 1/11, where they're claiming that Jose quit over the videos being put out there...that it was going to ruin her getting the $1million interview. Another article I saw http://www.wesh.com/r/30258242/detail.html#.TxmuM29qlJs.facebook says this:

"Mason claimed Baez stopped representing Anthony the day she was sentenced." So they seem to have gone from a "confuse the jury" tactic to "confuse the public." They all talk out their *****. I still think Barbara Walters was schmoozing with Baez to get that interview with Casey. Which makes me wonder exactly what Mason meant about Baez not representing Casey since the day she was sentenced...maybe that just means in LEGAL situations, but that he's still handling her "public relations" for lack of a better term. It's like Mason's adamant claim that Casey absolutely did not release that video to youtube. Well, no kidding! It was on another site, and someone else put it on youtube. But he makes it sound like she didn't put it out at all. ***.

Interesting. We'll see how that goes. More blatant lies?

Should we expect anything else?

The whole Baez/Mason thing makes me think that them two don't get along much. Mason made Baez look good and gave him credibility. And that's saying something.

Funny - we pass Palm City all the time on the way to Vero. We call it the Town with self-esteem issues. The used to have the name on a hill near an overpass. And all the businesses you can see from the road are named Palm City this or that. So it was pretty obvious where we were. :rotfl:

I havent heard about this. But 10 days, hm... she doesnt have to answer, just as in the Gonzalez case. Anyone have a link? Or was this shown in the court room. I have been following threads for the ship tragedy.

This is likely a WRITTEN answer that she has to provide, not an oral deposition. Some type of discovery was propounded to her and that she has not yet responded too, therefore, a Motion to Compel was filed. The Judge has ruled on the Motion and has ordered her to respond within 10 days, so she has to file some sort of response. Now, she can claim all kinds of privilege and file all kinds of objections to these questions and not really answer, but then another MTC will be filed and the Judge will again, compel to answer, maybe this time with a stiffer penalty for not....it could go round and round :)

Casey Anthony Answers Court Admissions: Says She Had no Idea of EquuSearch's Efforts

Casey Anthony has answered the two questions a local court mandated her to answer, according to a report on orlandosentinel.com. The questions were with regard to the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony, 2, and were posed to her by Texas EquuSearch (TES), a volunteer organization that helped in the search for Caylee in 2008.

The group, TES, had earlier filed a case against Anthony, asking for the reimbursement of $110,000 spent on two separate multi-day searches, conducted in September and November, 2009. They further argued that Anthony had wasted their money and resources, since she knew where her daughter was.

Anthony was told, on Friday, she would have to answer the questions and was given 10 days to do so, according to cfnews13.com. The questions were:

"Admit that you did not observe or hear George Anthony call 911 at any time to report that he or you had discovered that Caylee Marie Anthony had drowned in the swimming pool at your parents' house on or about June 16, 2008", and

"Admit that you were aware in September 2008 and October 2008 that EquuSearch was conducting searches for your daughter, Caylee".

According to EquuSearch's director, Tim Miller, Casey Anthony acknowledged the first "admission" and denied the second.

However, Miller claims he spoke several times to Anthony and told her of the searches. He insists she was aware of the search efforts and is taken aback by her denial.

"Nothing would surprise me coming out of Casey's mouth," Miller said, adding he "spent a lot of time with Casey in [her parents'] house before she was arrested."

Apart from Texas EquuSearch, Anthony is also facing a defamation lawsuit filed by a woman named Zenaida Gonzalez. Gonzalez claims her life was ruined after Anthony linked her to Caylee's disappearance in 2008.

At her trial, Anthony said Caylee had gone for a vacation with a nanny, named Zenaida, and had been missing since then. It later turned out the story was completely made up, to mislead people who were concerned about Caylee's disappearance.

Anthony was acquitted of the murder charges of her 2-year-old daughter last July but was found guilty on four counts of lying to the Orange County Sheriff's Office regarding her daughter's death. She is appealing those convictions and will be represented, in that instance, by attorneys Cheny Mason and Lisabeth Fryer.

Casey Anthony opens up again and manages to astound many again. She has people talking about one of her answers in Texas EquuSearch’s lawsuit against her. The group searched for Anthony’s daughter, Caylee, in 2008, and looks to recoup money spent on those efforts.

In an answer revealed Friday, Anthony said she was not aware Texas EquuSearch was looking for the child in September and October 2008. Of course, that information was all over the news then.

But maybe Casey wasn’t watching. Or maybe she was fogged in on Planet Casey.

Tim Miller, director of Texas EquuSearch, scoffed at Anthony’s response in an interview with WESH-Channel 2. “Of course, she knew,” Miller said. ”She got our business card when we walked in the door [of the family home]. We gave her a flier to get her approval, that she approved the wording on the flier. Yes, yes, she knew.”

The other Anthony response in the EquuSearch lawsuit: She did not observe or hear her father, George, call 911 to report that Caylee had drowned in the family swimming pool in 2008.

In July, Anthony was acquitted of murder in the toddler’s death. At the trial, her defense said Caylee drowned.

Texas EquuSearch asks: If that was the case, why was there a need for a search for Caylee?

This girl is a piece of work! The lies just go on and on and on and on....How incredibly predictable of her.

The whole idea of questioning her and giving her answers any value is bizarre, unless...see my bolded, last paragraph:

Casey Anthony finally answers some questions

  • Casey Anthony was found not guilty of murdering her daughter
  • A judge ordered Anthony to answer two questions regarding the death of her daughter

Casey Anthony has finally answered some questions about the death of her two-year-old daughter Caylee. But she only offered up two words: Admitted. Denied.

Casey has said a lot since she was found not guilty of killing her two-year-old daughter last July, but she has been mum when it comes to the circumstances surrounding Caylee’s death.

Click here to check out Anthony’s internet videos that were supposedly leaked through a hacker.

On January 17, a judge ordered Anthony to answer two questions under oath in Texas EquuSearch’s lawsuit. The company is suing Anthony for fraud to recover expenses incurred searching for Caylee, while Anthony allegedly knew the child was dead.

In a document presented by lawyers, here’s how Anthony answered the court ordered questions:

“Admit that you did not observe or hear George Anthony call 911 at any time to report that he or you had discovered that Caylee Marie Anthony had drowned in the swimming pool at your parents’ house on or about June 16, 2008.”

RESPONSE: "Admitted.”

“Admit that you were aware in September 2008 and October 2008 that EquuSearch was conducting searches for your daughter, Caylee.”

RESPONSE: "Denied.”

These answers were made under oath, and Anthony could face perjury charges if it is determined she lied. She is currently appealing perjury convictions that she lied to law enforcement during the search for Caylee.

Now, you didn't think I'd let this thread die completely, didja? This is how I treat my plants...lots of attention, kind of forget about them, and then bring them back from the brink of death. LOL

It's official: Jose Baez withdraws as Casey Anthony's lead attorney

February 21, 2012|By Jeff Weiner, Orlando Sentinel

Jose Baez has officially withdrawn from Casey Anthony's defense team, online clerk's records show.

According to the Orange County Clerk of Courts, Baez's notice of withdrawal was filed Tuesday, weeks after reports about his deteriorating relationship with Anthony first surfaced.

On the Clerk of Courts website, Baez's name, still listed in the "Lead Attorneys" category, has been crossed out. No one else was listed on the site as of Tuesday afternoon.

Baez famously represented Anthony, 25, in her high-profile murder trial. She was acquitted in July of all major charges in the 2008 death of her daughter, 2-year-old Caylee Marie.

Anthony is currently serving a probation term for check fraud and appealing convictions for lying to law enforcement. Her location while on probation is being withheld for her safety.

Baez still faces a pair of Florida Bar complaints stemming from the case, one of which involves his failure to share discovery information with the prosection as the trial loomed.

Though it was just made official, Baez's exit was reported more than a month ago. Co-counsel J. Cheney Mason later told In Session Baez was off the team the day Anthony was sentenced.

Thanks for the updates. I hope he doesn't think that now he is off the case and Casey won't profit from any interviews he does or money he makes people will be more interested in him. I don't want any of them to profit from this.

i can't believe it's been over 8 months now.

“Admit that you were aware in September 2008 and October 2008 that EquuSearch was conducting searches for your daughter, Caylee.”

RESPONSE: "Denied.”

This should be pretty easy to disprove considering everybody in the country with a television know they were searching. :rolleyes1

Great pictures, Kurby!

Kurby, Nicole is so beautiful!

Wow, 8 months old already! That puts the timing in perspective, doesn't it? One day we'll be saying "Nicole is 5 years old!...and Casey is still lying, Baez is still a bozo, Cheney Mason hasn't spit out those marbles, Lee and Mallory are still engaged..." ;)
