Cars - the movie

The whole movie is validation for me.
I have always believed that cars and trucks have feelings and personalities, they are much like kids, they require love and nurturing, especially when they get old. If you dont believe me you can ask my 64 or my 57 chevy :rotfl:

Count me in...though I will probably wait for video release (customary for me as I rarely go to the theatre anymore).

For those who don't like cars and/or Nascar-
-Did you see A Bug's Life because you like bugs?
-Did you see Chicken Little because you like chickens?
-Did you see Shrek (I know it's not Disney, but follow the logic here) because you like ogres?

I think most fans of animated movies (though I think the analogy can extend past animated films) have seen and enjoyed one or more of those films despite not like the "basic" subject. Cars is not going to be a movie of a Nascar race, so I recommend that you not discount this as a Nascar movie.

I don't purposely watch ANY sports related movies. Just no interest. As really no interest in CL. I also avoid sappy tear jerkers too. So I can't say I am avoiding Cars just because of Nascar. Sports just doesn't appeal to me. Which is why it is good we have a variety of movies to select from.

Just to get a bit more in Depth, Cars is another step in the cycle of Pixar pictures. The "cars" are going on their last great road trip. As far as I've heard it has very little to do with nascar excepting that as the title characters are automobiles, they probably like car racing. The underlying theme will be aging and dying. All of Pixar's movies have had deeper themes then the surface. Nemo was about fatherhood/parenthood, Toy Story about how we relate to our friends. A Bug's Life was about fitting our uniquness into society. The incredibles was about middle age. Monsters was about confronting society when it's wrong and the choices we make for convience.

A good many sports fans such as myself do not think auto racing as a true sport in terms of athletic ability. Bowling, fishing and golf also fall into the same group..... and I happen to personally love all three and they all do require great skill, just not true athletic ability.

I think the poster above said it all, as that what makes the PIXAR films so great is the underlying story behind the tale with Nemo hands down the best fish tale I have ever seen or heard. My suspicions are that this is more than just a movie about cars racing around.

I initially was not interested in seeing Cars, but the more I think about it, the more excited I get about it. Pixar hasn't let me down yet, what makes me think they will let me down here. They are bound to have a little slip up at some point, but even a small slip up for them would still produce a quality film, IMHO. Pixar has always been about the story which is esential to any great movie, animated or otherwise, they were just blessed with some of the greatest animation in the world to go along with their tales. So yes, the more I think about it the more excited I get.

:offtopic: just a bit, but I want to say how excited I am about the Pixar/Disney deal. I think this will give the Disney Company a shot of freshness and imagination (did I just say freshness? :goofy: , ahyuk). Seriously, I think this will be a very good thing company wide, very excited about John Lassiter getting a creative role in Theme Parks as well as animation!

Have you heard about the pending tour by the band The Cars (with Todd Rundgren)? There is a a video teaser circulating online featuring a red car that looks very similar to the style of cars shown in the trailer for the movie Cars. Plus they both have that silver V.

Any thoughts on a possible connection? Perhaps another factor in the movie release date delay?

Ill be going to see it. I never knock a Disney (or Disney Pixar) movie til i've tried it (apart from if it has Hilary Duff in it :rotfl: )

I love all of Pixar's past movies and i'm sure i'll probably like this one too. The trailer doesn't do it much though. It doesn't even tell you what it's about. And don't say...it's about cars! We all know that! :rotfl: But what ABOUT the cars??

The band called The Cars is going to be touring this summer for the first time in 17 years with a modified lineup. There is a video clip of the new band lineup circulating online that has similar graphics to those in the Cars movie trailer.

I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a connection between the summer Cars tour and the summer Cars movie or if this is pure coincidence.
