CARS Pixar Movie

I got you Air, but still the Cars trailer doesn't do for me what previous ones did. Two perfect examples are Monsters, Inc. and The Incredibles. The teaser trailers were made up of a single scene that wasn't in the final product that were extremely well done and really made me want to see the films.

In Monsters, we got the concept. Two monster buddies who scare kids in their rooms. They ran into a little mixup on location and went at it like an old married couple. That one really hit the spot, and the movie didn't disappoint.

The same for Incredibles. We weren't entirely sure what it would be about, but we met the lead character, got into his mind just a bit and saw some well executed comedy on the screen in the short few minutes.

With Cars, it seems like they don't have anything to show us. So much of the trailer is a NASCAR race. It that what the movie is going to be about? Watching an animated NASCAR race? Really leaves me wondering and doubting more than anticipating.

It seemed obvious to me that Pixar is desperate to get to young boys in particular (boys like cars) and dads to take them (dads, generally speaking, like NASCAR). While I think this obsession is a bit on the needless side, I think I see what is going on. And I think they will hit that demographic, but they will get comparatively scant support from the rest of their customer base. Cars will still be a winner, but maybe not a blockbuster.

As a shareholder of both Disney and Pixar, I'm *very* interested in how this movie might do. I bought PIXR pre-Nemo and have enjoyed nothing but growth. Can't help but wonder if I should lock in some profits before Cars comes out, not knowing if it will be Pixar's first dud.

I was completely hooked on the trailers for Monsters Inc. and The Incredibles. The Cars trailer? eh ....

It's funny to me because I don't think the trailer looks that great. However, I ALSO didn't think Finding Nemo, Monsters INC, or The Incredibles looked that great in the trailers. I love all three movies and so do my kids. They just finished watching The Incredibles about an hour ago for the 50th time! :) I've learned not to judge Pixar movies by their trailers!
