Carryon Questions from my mom

I tried to get on the TSA.GOV website but my internet here at work is acting all screwy but the DIS boards are a bookmark on my phone so Im posting it here instead

My mother has a lot of prescriptions and gets them thru mail order so the bottles are big. She is planning on putting a week's worth into 1 pill bottle to put in her carry on for the trip. I told her this may be a problem. Is it?

She also wants to know if her curling iron can go in her carry on or if it is considered a weapon?

No problem with the pills and a curling iron is fine in your carry-on.

That is such good news!!
I was worried the Xray would pick up different shaped pills in one bottle and want a prescription copy for them.
And Im glad the curling iron can go in there too... now I can put my straightener in mine too haha.

if she has a controlled substance (i.e. narcotic) in any quantity i'd bring a copy of the Rx or at least dump all the other pills in that bottle.

Not necessary for TSA.

She might want to pack a couple extra days of her medication just in case of something unforseen-weather, illness, etc.

I travel all the time with 4 different prescriptions. I use a daily pill box and it's never been questioned. TSA is there for security, not drug enforcement.

Vaseline type lip stuff?

Wipes are OK. Mascara and lip gel have to go into your baggie (3.4 oz or less).

Once again, why not check TSA.gov rather than continuing to ask here? It's a very easy to understand website and a lot faster than waiting for answers.
