Does it pretty much take two hands to carry a double City Mini on and off buses? Has anyone ever rigged up some sort of shoulder strap to free up a hand while carrying the stroller?
You could visit a Buy, Buy Baby or Babies r Us and see one in person and see if it's light enough to do one handed. I think for a very short time you could do it, but not long term.
Just because I'm curious, why/when would you be carrying it? When we had strollers, we only folded them to get on the parking lot trams.

Just onto the bus or up stairs if we wind up on the second floor. Multiple little kids are easier to handle if you don't have both hands lifting the stroller!
We rented one last Nov and while it would have required both of my hands to get it on/off the bus (I'm 5'1" and the thing is kinda big and akward), I just asked DH and he said he didn't think he had to use both hands. He too found it akward to carry but said it wasn't heavy. Even with that said, we were really happy with the rental and are planning on doing it again this Dec when we come down.
