Just book round trip for $166.00 from CLT to MCO on US Air!!!:yay: Thought we were driving this year. I have not flown a legacy carrier since they began charging for checked bags. We have some of the small rolling carry on bags that you get in a set of luggage and are trying to not check but one bag. If the plane is full and they need to put some carry on bags under the plane, is this a "gate check" that you get back at the arrival gate or does it become "checked" and you pick up with regular bags. We are using ME and do not plan on collecting bags. I'll have some ME tags left over and will put them on if needed. Too bad Southwest was MUCH HIGHER, :scared1::sad2:,never had any problems.

If it's a full size jet, they typically send them to baggage claim. If it's a regional jet (small), they will return them outside the plane.

You will find out when you get there. It may fit in the overhead. They may print a luggage tag to put on it. Or they may gate check it.

When I've had things checked at the gate (not luggage, but strollers, or a carseat when I just didn't want to deal with lugging it onto the half-full plane at the last minute), they've given me the choice on where to collect it. And that's more than one carrier...
