Carribean Beach

Thank you all very much for your pictures. It really looks like a beautiful resort. I guess my #1 worry is the transportation. We are so accustomed to POFQ with it's one bus stop and being the first picked up and the first dropped off. Sure, we had to go through the POR stops..but we always got an empty bus as we were picked up first.

Does each bus go to all 8 bus stops at CBR?

No worries! There are 7 bus stops, one at each village and one at OPR. That means there's a bus stop close to every room as well as the food court! Yes, in our experience the bus goes to every stop, but there was always room on the bus for us, and we always got a seat on the way to the parks... Not all the time on the way back (you'll have that at all the resorts), but almost always, and most people will stand and give their seats to women or children -- there's some chivalry and courtesy left in the world:) We found the buses to be frequent and easy to use on both of our trips to CBR -- and we LOVE the resort -- it's our favorite!!

Feel free to check out the photos in my links below if you want!

You guys really are making me feel better. HOpefully soon I'll stop sulking!! Thanks catburtdave for your pics. They are beautiful. I'm sure we will enjoy the resort. Heck, we will be in disney. It's just hard when, for 10 months of planning you knew you were staying in one place..to have it change 26 days out...just stinks.

Quick question...Is there one bus stop that is ALWAYS the first to be picked up?

It appeared that Jamaica was always the first stop to pick up, but was often a middle stop to drop off (except for one park, can't remember which).

Okay, there is a downside to being the first stop. We had a little bus snafu -- the bus pulled up at Jamaica saying "epcot". The bus changed it's sign after that stop and took us all to MK. All of us that got on at Jamaica were told to take the monorail over to Epcot. No real apology there. It cost us 30 minutes and instead of arriving for opening, we got to epcot at 9:30. I was not happy. Next time I will ask as I get on each bus "epcot???" and make sure!

I got that backwas, brenda is right. Jamaica was the first picked up for me each time I took the bus (granted I was there for just 10 days once and I tended to take the bus at the same times, once in the morning, once in the afternoon around 4). It usually did not stop there to drop off first, often I'd get off at Port Royal and eat before heading back to the hotel room.

This was handy because although it was slow during the week (april) it was busy on the weekend but we never had to get on a crowded bus.

So, I found out today that our resort has been changed without us (or our TA) being aware. We have been moved from POFQ (which we like b/c it is small) to CBR (which is GIGANTIC!) I'm not happy about this at all. I need some cheering up from you CBR alums. I'm seeing HUGE bus waits and a big walk to our room.....someone please tell me it's not that bad!

OK its not that bad. I love the CBR and wrote a favorable review of it for Mouse Extra.

I like it a lot. I enjoy the atmosphere of the Custom House and the little island near there. Its a fun place to stay and the buses are not bad at all. At least, they don't go to other resorts.

CBR is lovely and you will enjoy it, but you should not have been moved from your resort choice to accomodate anyone else. If Pop Warner needed more rooms last minute, they should have been inconvenienced and not you.
You shoudl be compensated with a resort "step up" or at least a preferred room choice at CBR. I woul dpush this both with your TA and with Disney directly.

Its a pretty resort but it is huge. However, while we were there, we had no bus problems at all. They were quick and not very crowded.

I have stayed at CBR at least three times. My favorite is part of the resort is that wonderful morning walk to get my coffee and then enjoying the grounds and my coffee on the way back to the room. I love the early morning peace and quiet of that resort walk. That's why I usually don't care which building I am staying in because I love that walk. I have never noticed a real problem with the buses. We stayed at POFQ last year and loved that as well.

I understand it must be hard to have the resort changed at the last minute. Just embrace it and like another poster said, call and see if you can get a preferred room since they inconvienced you.

Here is a link to the construction picture thread for one of the other posters.

First of all, I'm sorry that this happened to you.

We stayed at CBR for the first time in September, and we LOVED it. We had no problems whatsoever. We were in a preferred Martinique room and had a stunning view.

We never had a problem with the transportation either. The buses were extremely prompt, and there were plenty of them. Most of the time it was either Jamaica or Martinique that loaded and unloaded first, so you might want to request one of those--probably Jamaica--if you think you will have an issue.

The whole resort is so beautiful and laidback. The vastness of it makes it all the more peaceful, IMHO.

Does anyone know how long this construction is lasting?

Does anyone know how long this construction is lasting?

I want to say that I heard early 2008, but I am not for sure. Maybe someone else can chime in with the exact date. Sorry to not be more specific.

My TA has PROMISED me that there will be NO construction going on when we are there. She said right now they are doing "pre construction" and it will be done before we get there. I hope she's right.

I just wanted to say thank you so much to all of you who posted on this board. You definately made me feel better! I am HAPPY to report that my TA called today and she was able to get us switched back to POFQ!! :cheer2: :cheer2: We are VERY happy that we will be back "home"!!!

Thanks again for everything! Check out my trip report!!!
