What great things can you tell me about your stay here? Is it really nice.. which building should I request ... I would like one close to the food court and bus stops... My husband wants to stay here.. I just want to know anything about it that you might think is really neat about this place.. thanks!

We stayed at CBR a couple of years back, and we loved it! There's a lovely little beach with hammocks that we took advantage of one night, just lying around and looking up at the stars. Our rooms were in a courtyard where there were a couple of round, covered tables. We would sit out there and eat some snacks and wind down before bedtime. The food court and gift shop are nice and colorful, and the main pool is great. It was very quiet while we there, and we enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend it! :thumbsup2

Martinique Block 25 - we had this last year - great location for food court and main pool (and bus stop). Don't bother with a water view....we had a nice view of a tree and it cost us $150 extra.

As you can see from our signature, we like CBR!
We prefer being away from the pool & food courts, & for the peace.
Our favorites are Jamaica & Aruba, so you may want to stay away from those two, although they are both close to bus stops.
We get a standard view & always have looked out upon a lovely, green courtyard. If you don't care for yr room, just pick up the phone upon arrival, & politely, tell the desk what you'd prefer, this has worked for us :sunny: Let me add here, we generally go in slower seasons, though-
Love the 'hidden,' 'private' beaches & lush landscaping is a real treat for us
Now they have a Pirates Cruise for the youngsters-
You can rent sea racers, pedal boats, canoes etc which are a blast.
There are also bike rentals as well as surreys.
DS17 says there is an arcade, but I don't know anything about that :scratchin

We know we must try another mod, but it is difficult, our CBR time is so nostalgic & super!

The 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale (OPR), which has the food court, shops, main pool, bar, etc., are Martinique 24, 25 and 26 and all of Trinidad North (31, 32 and 33). Those 6 buildings are what's called, in CBR-speak, "preferred location." Booking a preferred location room costs an extra $15 per night, but for that money you are GUARANTEED a room in one of those 6 buildings. If you simply request one of those buildings, the request may or may not be honored (and if there are enough people PAYING to fill up those rooms, then there's no chance that request will be honored).

If you're not interested in paying more, then you can request a room in Jamaica or Aruba. They're across the lake from OPR. The bridge crossing the lake goes from OPR to the Aruba/Jamaica border. Aruba 51 and Jamaica 45 are the closest to the bridge.

There are bus stops at each and every village (plus a bus stop at OPR), so there's no such thing as one village that's closer to a bus stop than another. If you look at the map (http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/cbrmap.htm), you'll see some quirks, such as if you're in Aruba 51 you're about equidistant from the Aruba and Jamaica bus stops. If you're in Martinique 26 you may be closer to OPR's bus stop than to your own village's bus stop. The last time I was there I was in Trinidad North 3340. For a preferred location room, it's about as far from OPR as you can get, but it was about as close to the village's bus stop as you can get.

CBR is a great resort. It's got a very nice feel to it. It's nothing like the actual Caribbean (except for maybe the palm trees and hibiscus blossoms), but who cares?! It's great on its own merits. It's also in what I think is a really great location. You're a less than 5 minute bus ride from MGM. You're also right next door to Epcot, but Epcot's main entrance is on the other side from CBR. That's why from many spots in CBR you can see at least part of the fireworks from Epcot's IllumiNations show (my favorite spot is from inside the Trinidad North quiet pool). If you're in Epcot's World Showcase, if you go to the back of the German and Italian pavilions, you could probably scale a wall, walk through marshes and probably a mine field or two and then wind up across the street from CBR's Aruba or Barbados. Not that I'm recommending that ....

ENJOY CBR and WDW! pixiedust:

We just came back from CBR last week and loved it! We stayed in Jamaica 44 as mentioned from someone else and were really pleased with our room. It was nicely decorated in a tropical theme and was very clean. It looked out on a courtyard. The walk across the little island was very sweet and we really enjoyed it in the mornings.

I would recommend having a car though. It was nice to be able to be in charge of our comings and goings here (one night my son needed some tylenol and my husband just hopped in the car, ran over to Port Royale and back in about 3 minutes). If you do rent a car and are a member of AAA, then I would request a Diamond Parking Pass from them. It entitles you to a special parking area at each of the parks and it is very close to the front. It made our trips to and from the parks really easy and we didn't have to rely on the buses!

In any case, CBR was great. We would stay there again!

I have stayed there 4 times, and every time we request the Martinique b/c it is very close to the pool and food court. In my opinion, it is definitely the best location.

Also, if you are pop drinkers, get the mugs b/c they have a fountain drink station at the food court, which was something we always took advantage of. :tigger: :mickeyjum

You will LOVE your visit to CBR! We had stayed at WL and AKL, but CBR is our new favorite! The white-sand beaches, the hammocks and beach chairs, the boat rentals on the 45-acre lake that CBR has all to itself, the food court, the 1.4-mile Promenade walkway around the lake -- it's great!

We are headed back to the CBR for our 3rd time this June. It is the only place we have stayed. It has large enough rooms, a great pool and food court plus the walk around th resort is scenic. It is rather large so if you can request a preferred location. I understand that the rooms now have fridge's, 5 years ago that cost 10 bucks a day. Also they have added a bass fishing trip on th e lake, not sure if that matters but it is available.

We just stayed there last month. I would recommend any section except Trinidad South. I liked the looks of Jamaica & Martinique.

We rented a boat to take out on the lake for half an hour, and that was fun. My fiance thought that you'd be able to see Epcot's fireworks at night from the beach in front of Old Port Royale. I've heard good things about Shutters, the sit-down restaurant, too.

We will be at CBR this summer and have a question about the room decor. From all the pictures I've seen of the rooms, most have the bright multi-colored bed spread, but some of the others I've seen have light blue ones and beige ones. Are there different interior color schemes for the different sections of the resorts, or are some of these just older pictures from before the rehab? I think I would like to request Jamaica. Does anyone have some room interior pictures of Jamaica?

We are staying at CBR for the first time in April and we can't wait. It looks beautiful. There were no preferred rooms left so the CM said that he would request Jamaica #44. He seemed to think that this was a great location so we took his word for it! I would also like to see some pictures of Jamaica. I have read lots of descriptions and seen many pictures but most haven't been of Jamaica. I was also wondering about the difference in colors of the room interiors. Hopefully, someone can pass on some info. Also, we will be renting a car so can anyone tell me if there is a parking lot close to Jamaica #44? Thanks! :sunny:

Splashmom, you'll find loads of CBR pix on Safetymom's CBR FAQ thread, located in the resort FAQ thread that is "stuck" at the top of this discussion board. Parking lots are behind each village, so you're never far from your car, or the bus stop. Just check out a map of the resort. We stayed in Jamaica 45 and loved the location. It was very quiet and peaceful, and close to the end of the footbridge to Old Port Royale, making it a very short walk.

I think it is the biggest resort at disney. It has its own internal bus sevice. Nice but my family hated to take a bus every time we eat or walk for 20 minutes each way.

Thanks jaysmom! We are using the dining plan this time so we won't be eating at the resort very often. I like to be close to the main buildings but it isn't essential that we are the closest buildings. The pictures are great! Now if the time would just go quicker! :goodvibes
