We love Carousel of Progress! We haven't taken our four-year-old on it, yet, but she loves to sing Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow in the car and asks for it some nights as her bedtime song.
Keep using them! On the ipad app it just says rotfl rotfl rotfl... The out-of-contextness is making me rotfl But hope you have fun rediscovering cop!

I see that it's closing for a refurb in December. Does anyone else feel that the last scene could use a little updating? Maybe replace the TV with a thinner one and use smaller virtual reality glasses?
One of my favorites and reminds me of my childhood. My kids think it is boring but I drag them every time. Someday they will learn to love and appreciate it and will hopefully do the same to their own kids.
I can't believe that I have been to Disney a lot of times . Saw this years ago now can't wait to see it again it is history. Thank everyone for the help![]()
It's closed during the time we're visiting WDW.

I think the whole attraction needs an update. When it first came out there was a big chunk of the audience that could relate to each scene. Today there's no one around that can 'reminisce' about life during the first two scenes. To go back and capture today's audience they should start around the 1940s and move forward every twenty or so years between scenes.

I don't mind that they updated the last scene (I actually wish they hadn't, but it was years ago, so not use getting upset about it now), but as one of the classic 64' World's Fair showpieces, I would hope that they would leave the majority alone and the way Walt wanted it...yes, it is dated...but it is a historic ride...changing the first few scenes would cheapen it. That would be like taking all the dolls out of Small World and replacing them with holograms of real children in each country singing the song...sure it would make it more modern and up-to-date...but some rides, especially those created for that fair, should be left as close to the original versions as possible, and with the stories saying that this was Walt's favorite attraction, it holds a special significance in my mind. It is one of the few places at WDW where you have a ride mostly unchanged from what Walt created...and is one of the only rides in WDW Walt actually touched...I would like the rest of the ride to stay the way he wanted it...even if that makes it dated..the ride's message is still just as timeless.
Ok, off my soapbox for now.
