Callum’s disappointed that we haven’t fitted in Typhoon Lagoon yet so we all get ready today for the beach, Unfortunately at Breakfast a real chill wind had picked up and we all sat around huddled in our big cardies. We placacte the kids by saying we’ll go over there for a couple of hours but when we get too cold we will leave immediately. They reluctantly agree so we get to TL around 20 past 10, the park has probably a couple of dozen people in it in total so we get really good beds right in front of the main pool. The kids are in there straight away loving that giant wave machine.
The sun comes out and we strip off, its boiling!! After a couple of hours I raise the kids out of the pool to attempt the Shark Reef, Ruth scuttles behind with the camcorder. Now, Callum and I have snorkelled a lot but Dan has never had a go, he’s not as nrevous as his mum though so after I run him through the right way to get your mask on and breathe etc he’s ready. The freezing cold shower to prepare you for the sea water nearly puts him off though.
We sit on the side and I explain that the large rock a few feet away is the only real place to stop and adjust your mask etc so he has a quick go at breathing underwater whilst we’re stopped there. I take his hand and lead him out as far as the rock, he’s going good. Callums already halfway across the pool staring down at the sharks so I know he’s ok. Dan readjusts his mask then he’s happy to set off. He takes to it like the proverbial duck and his enjoyment is only marred by the stinging the seawater incurs on his slight excema on his legs.
Sharks done and dusted we head back for the warmth of the main pool, Ruth informs me she has some good footage of my rather large backside bobbing around in the reef – very nice, Not!
Around 4 o’clock it starts getting a little chilly but we congratulate ourselves on a day well spent, we catch the bus to the Fort Wilderness Campground – have you seen the size of this place??? Its huge!
We entertain the bus driver by getting lost and getting back on his bus every few minutes to get to a different part and end up at the Pioneer Hall. We’re too late for horse rides but the fried chicken in the restaurant more than makes up for that. A lovely CM called Todd keeps us amused for a bit chatting away then we head down towards the campfire ground. What a fabulous night, if you haven’t been then make the effort its fabulous and free!!! A lovely lady called Cindy had us singing and clapping and stomping our feet whilst she played the guitar. Chip and Dale came round to see everyone and we toasted marshmallows on sticks over the campfire – Callum thought it was funny when I caught mine alight.
Ruth and I had been a little extravagant when buying the marshmallows as we thought there’d only be half a dozen in a bag but the bags were huge and we were eating the bloody things for days.
After the singalong we watched Mulan on a huge screen but as we weren’t some of the lucky ones staying there and therefore having our huge duvets etc to keep us warm we quit halfway through.
It would have been lovely to stay for longer but we were all a bit sunburnt from TL (we were foolish enough to think it was too cold for sun lotion that morning) we were feeling the chill.
Hmmm! Marshmallows and Baileys before bed methinks!

would not be a problem for me at all ;) ;)

My DS(6) LOVES marshmallows - but only the white ones :rotfl:

The campfire sounds great - i'll add that to the mental list for next time!
