My DH and I would like to stay in Aruba or Jamaica and I would like to put in a room request. We need a N/S standard room, so please give me a recommendation for a building or room. When we stayed last time we had a king room in Aruba (53 I think). Just wanting opinions-thanks!

HI! Quick question..when I booked the ressies, the cm wanted to know if I prefered courtview or gardenview for all who have stayed their w/ is better? Iam not getting preffered because cm also stated at the time I am going I might be able to get a preffered location..But then again I'm wondering if prefered might be to noisy? All replies welcomed!

I would take the Gardenview. I lucked out in 2003 and got Waterview and didn't ask for it! :confused3 I was also in a King room and had a corner room which was great! :goodvibes

I like the courtyard view because there are tables and chairs that you can sit in outside your rooms if you are on the first floor.

I have stayed in the preferred buildings many times and never found them noisy. Trinidad North is far enough away from the pool that you don't get much noise. In the Martinique building closest to the food court sometimes early morning you can hear trucks pulling up to the food court. I only heard them because I was outside at the time.

The last time we were at CBR was 2003 and our T-Mobile cell phone did not work. I was wondering if anyone has stayed recently at CBR and their T-Mobile worked, if not, I need to go purchase some phone cards. We'red leaving June 22nd thru June 30th - and for the fourth time staying at our favorite resort, CBR. Thanks for your help!

We were just there June 1-7 and my mobile phone worked good. I have Alltel.

Just back from an 8 night stay at CBR. This was our third time to stay at this resort we were there from June 17 - 25. Started off kind of rocky. We arrived at check in at 1:30, waited in line for 45 min. CM gave us our keys and said our room was ready we were given a room in Barbados on the second floor. We got some of our luggage out and carried it thru the rain and to our room. Opened the door, and there was bags of trash on the tables, one bed completely stripped down and the smell was awful!! Called front desk and was told we should not have been given that room yet , it still showed in the computer as not being cleaned. The very unfriendly CM told us we would have to leave the room while housekeeping came back, and told us to go sit by the pool. (Keep in mind its still raining) This did not sit well with my husband so we went back to the custom house, and asked to speak to the manager. (This is where it gets A LOT BETTER) He apologizes over and over and asked me if we had any requests with our reservation, I said yes we had requested Martinique or Jamaica. He upgrades us to Martinique building 26 in room 2612 which was also a corner room and probably the best room location you could imagine. We loved it!! We love CBR and cant imagine staying anywhere else. We had booked our trip to late to get a preferred room and would have gladly paid extra upon check in to get it. Room was clean and great!! After we unpacked rested a bit we went off to MK for extra magic hours, which was a little disappointing considering last year it was $12.00 a person extra and the crowds were so low compared to this year where it was free. I would have gladly paid the extra money for the enights. But to us there was hardly a difference between crowd level during the day and then on enight this trip. We were also on the Disney Dining Plan and it worked out great!! The only thing we had left over were 14 snacks, which we got at Old Port Royal on the last day for our trip home. The next day we really didnt do much but just lay around and went to DTD for some shopping. We were tired after leaving Texas Thurs morning at 5:00 am and driving straight to Florida (18 hrs) then checking in at Disney, and staying out till 2:00 in the morning. We played golf on Monday, we would really like to find out more about Shades of Green resort. Had alot of different foods, cant say i would try again, but it was different and we tried it. Oh yeah it rained A LOT!! But nothing that spoiled our trip! We love this resort and would recommend it to anyone!! Hope everyone going here enjoys it as much as we do!! :earsgirl:

I've looked through this thread and the others, but can't find what I'm looking for.
We've always stayed at the Dolphin or the Swan, and do so because of the location. We always walk to Epcot from there and enjoy not having to drive or take the buses.
We've been thinking about trying CBR, but would really prefer to walk from the resort to Epcot.
From looking at the maps, I can't really tell if this is something that can be done. (without it taking more that 15-20 minutes)

In theory you could do it but I don't recommend it. It is much easier to take the bus. WDW is not set up for walkers. Drivers also aren't expecting to see someone walking. It could be dangerous.

We just returned from an 8 night stay at CBR...it was wonderful! We were rather nervous about our first stay at a moderate. Our last stays were Cont, WL, Poly, and Poly GVC. How would we like a moderate...everyone's least fav moderate so it seems from the various polls on this site. Well, we loved the whole place! Even things others complain about, we loved! We did heed the advice and stay in a preferred building. We were put in Matinique 2505 and 2506 (2 parents, 4 kids, and 1 grandma). This was an ideal location...pretty garden view, very peaceful, a short pleasant walk to all amenities. Our only disappoinment was that our rooms were not connecting. I know this is only a request, but at check in we were told rooms connected, so to arrive at the room and find no connection was a bit of adisappointment, but one we quickly got over. The rooms were clean and lovely. The bathroom set up was very nice with the two sinks and the large getting ready area, and this room had plenty of storage. Older 3 kids wanted to bunk with grandma, but I wanted all stuff with us so I could stay organized. I managed to store clothing and stuff for mom, dad, 3 kids, and an infant in that room with no problem! A pack 'n play arrived in a timely fashion to our room and it was clean and nice. I brought my own sheet, but I had no qualms placing my infant in the crib. We took great advantage of the refillable mugs and we enjoyed our trips to Port Royale. We also ate several meals (breakfasts, lunches, and snacks) at the food court and had not a complaint...very nice set up, and a real improvement over this type of food service offered at any of the deluxes we have visited. I had read that some found getting drinks for a trip to the pool to be unpleasant, but we did not have this problem. And the pool was a pleasant surprise. I expected after 2 trips to the poly that my kids would dislike the CBR pool, but they really enjoyed it! We never found it overly crowded and we were always able to get chairs and in the shade for the baby when we needed it. My two boys (8 and 9) enjoyed using the free pool table two of our nights there, and my dd 5 loved the big pool and slide. The hot tub was small, but still more than is offered at the Poly so we were glad to have it! I never had a problem getting spot when I wanted to. We walked the whole circle around the lake 2 evenings and we just found the resort to be gorgeous. My kids also liked the quiet pools and the play areas and beaches. Oh, and feeding the turtles, fish, and ducks at the bridge was a surprise treat. We rented a van and drove to MGM, Epcot, AK, and both water parks...they were each like a 5 minute drive and very easy. We did use Disney buses for all of out trips to MK and that was fine. We made our 8:05 AM CRT reservation easily and it seemed each time we left the park we walked up to a bus. Martinque was always the first bus picked up and dropped off for our trips to MK, so that worked really well for us as well. We met really nice people everywhere at the resort...pool, foodcourt, buses. Oh, and when we reached our $1000 credit card limit, all it took was a phone call from us to authorize that charge and begin anew...a trip to the Custum House was not necessary. We were all amazed at how much we enjoyed this resort! We did a Wishes Cruise one night and as we went past the Poly, we all said we were very happy to be at CBR. I think I mentioned everything, but I would be happy to answer any question I can :-)

I would think it could take 45 minutes to an hour to attempt to walk to Epcot. There is no direct path and the main entrance is far from the exit to the resort. The resort itself is huge and it could take 20 minutes to get from your room to the main Disney road which is a 6 lane divided highway with no sidewalks. Once you were out of the resort i would say maybe an addtional 20 - 30 minutes to MGM and 30-40 minutes to IG entrance to Epcot.I am trying to picture the roadway in my head and this is an estimate but i it s long walk.

I haven't seen it mentioned here yet so.....

About a month and half ago, a concierge desk (guest services) was put in down at Old Port Royal. Over there you can do everything you can do at the Custom House. For example, re-cut keys, dining info, tickets, account balance etc.... Keep an eye out of it, its by the arcade.

Thanks everyone for the responses on walking from CBR to Epcot.
Think that we will stick to the Dolphin or try another resort closer to Epcot.

Has anyone shipped a package to yourself at CBR to arrive just before you do? I'm thinking this would be a good way to get snacks, pop, water and diapers down to the resort without having to lug it around in the airport.

Thanks

Yes many have reported doing just that. Be sure to mark it with the dates of your arrival. Others have suggested marking the box with stickers so it stands out and makes it easy to find.

OK Thanks, should I call them so that they know it is coming. Also, how do I get the phone number and address for CBR?

Phone: 407-934-3400

900 Cayman Way
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
(for priority shipping)

No need to call. This info is on the first post in this FAQ if you need it again. :)

Thanks for your help safetymom. Now I have another question for you, I see all these threads about people calling in or faxing room requests to the resort before they get there. Can you tell me why I would want to do this if I already booked preferred room at CBR? :confused3

If you already have a preferred location I wouldn't bother with the fax. Most resorts aren't looking at them anyway. CBR CM's are very good about granting requests when you check in. They get a gleam in their eyes while they are trying to find a room with your requests.

You will have a great time at CBR.

:cool1: We e-mailed or TA yesterday to yes book us for June 2006! :cool1:

I have spent hours reading and now I have a couple of silly questions

1. Can you go up into the lighthouse?

I know you can not "swim" but

2.Can you walk along the shore and being up to like your ankles? or will they come shoo you away? pirate:
