Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

It is a room that you pay extra for. It is close to Old Port Royale the food court and the main pool. The building numbers are in the first post on this thread. I also have a map of the resort on my website listed below.

The room itself is exactly the same as any other room at CBR. You are paying for location.

So two more quick questions before we leave. Both involve groceries/snacks available at the resort.

1) Does anyone remember if they sell individual cans/bottles of Carnation Instant Breakfast already prepared, or any other sort of breakfast energy drink? If not, how about Nestles Quick already prepared?

2) I'm thinking about buying something at the resort and putting it in a soft sided cooler for the day we go the MNSSHP, so we don't have to deal with the lines or trying to figure out what is open....do they have a selection of pre-wrapped sammies or anything that could constitute a light dinner?

Thanks!

I had my request in for Jamaica a full 386 days in advance when we booked. When we got there we were given Barbados. I complained that we'd had our booking far in advance and was hoping to get our request for Jamaica. Her reply was we're full. However, we were in building 12 and it was close to the busstop, laundry room, and pool. The walk to Old Port Royal each morning was a bit further than from Jamaica I think, but it wasn't bad.

We stayed in building 12 too. Had no problem with the location, in fact we were using the busstop at Martinique when the bus came in the front entrance (just a short walk between buildings). The walk to Old Port Royal was nice in the morning, got the legs working.

Yes, they have pre-wrapped sandwiches, plus fruit, salads, cookies, etc. I don't remember whether they have breakfast energy drinks.

I don't either but, I wasn't looking. ;) I think they might have those soda-like energy drinks, in cans. :confused3 Sorry, again, wasn't looking for them.

Doesn't Carnation and/or Nestle make those pre-packaged powder pouches? :confused3 (try saying that 3 times fast, LOL) Maybe you could bring those with you? :confused3

They do have pre-wrapped sandwiches...for $7! :confused3 They looked good, though. There was a of other items to choose from...fruit, veggies, desserts, snacks, bagels, breads, etc. Have a great time! We just got back on Wednesday. I'm trying to get some pictures ready to post.

Thanks for taking the time to post so much info on CBR. Leaving in 29 days for 8 nights at CBR and this was the best infor I found on the resort.

WOW Thanks for the photos... I am leaving in 26 days and I am so excited, but now after seeing these picture I am REALLY EXCITED !!! Thanks I can't wait to stay here!!

Just back from our first ever stay at CBR (10/25-10/30). I will post some pix later, but here is my initial review....

First, I must say that this thread was HUGE help in getting me ready to fully enjoy this wonderful resort. Thanks to ALL who contribute info great and small; it all adds up.

We traveled on 10/24 and spent that night at the LBV Comfort Inn (very nice place for $42, I might add). We arrived at CBR around 9AM on 10/25 to check in. Our room (Trinidad North 3153) was ready immediately! :woohoo: . What a wonderful bonus it was to be able to go ahead and put our stuff in the room and take in the aura of the place before we headed off to the parks for the day. We were immediately impressed with the orderliness and cleanliness of the resort, especially our room. Any doubts about the room being less than clean or needing some TLC were dispelled quickly. We put away our things and made the short walk to the main pool area and OPR.

The kids were excited about the themed pool, and eager to schedule a swim for later in the day :goodvibes . We strolled thru the Straw Market and Calypso marketplace, taking time to examine all the pirate goodies.

Positives:
1) The feeling of being "on island". Wonderfully themed resort!
2) Variety of flora. For example, there was this beautiful yellow flowering tree right at the corner of the stairwell nearest the main walkway in building 31 that I came to call "my tree" because i wanted to take it home with me :sunny: . I'll have to search and see if I took a pic of it or not. Many other flowers, trees, and bushes that delighted DW and I very much
3) Sitting on the beach between OPR and Trinidad North and watching Illuminations. (We did this three times)
4) Service at the food court was always good. We never ran into an unreasonably long line.
5) The main pool was fun every time -and we used it every day. Never did try the quiet pools.
6) The bus service was good for the most part (see below)
7) Cleanliness of the whole resort -room and common areas. (one teeny exception)

"Negatives":
1) It once took us 55 minutes to get to MK AFTER being picked up at the bus stop. To be fair, the bus did have to stop and pick up two guests in wheelchairs. This accounted for much of the time. I don't begrudge the folks in wheelchairs/scooters one iota; I just wish Disney could figure a way to get everyone transported safely and more quickly in such circumstances.
2) The blue cabinet that housed the refrigerator in the room had large chunks/chips of paint missing from it. Not that I cared a whole lot, but it was kind of incongruous with the immaculate state of rest of the room.
3) I can't get channel 96 on my DirecTV here at home :teeth: . I fell in love with that channel
4) On at least three different days we did not receive mousekeeping service until after 2PM. This was a tad inconvenient since this was around the time each of those days that we were taking a break from the parks. On at least a couple of those days DW had wanted to stay in the room and read/relax while I took the kids to the pool. She wound up having to come along and read poolside. Again... no biggie, but would have been nice to have come back midafternoon to a clean room.

Any questions?

Does anyone know if there are ice machines located in each building? I like to bring tea bags and make my own ice tea in the coffee pot. I drink tons of ice tea daily and I really like fresh brewed. So many places use instant that I usually make my own when traveling. Also, how much is the refillable mug now? 7 years ago it was $10! Not sure it is worth it for the kids but how much is a single drink in the food court?

We are going Dec 7-12 and cant wait! I won this trip thru McDonalds. It was for 4 nights but we could request extra nights at our expense so I requested CBR and they booked us in a preferred room in Trinidad North and the extra night is only costing us $91! Wow! :cool1:

Yes, there are ice machines at each building. I think single fountain drinks cost $2, but I could be off.

Well, you have a preferred room booked, but it isn't "booked" in Trinidad North. It might be in Trinidad North, it might be in Martinique. You may have requested Trinidad North, but that can't be guaranteed. All that can be guaranteed is that the room will be in one of 6 buildings: the 3 buildings of Trinidad North (31, 32 and 33) or Martinique 24, 25 and 26.

Lucky you!!! :cheer2: Congrats and ENJOY!!!!!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

I'm totally guessing, from an old, forgetful mind  , that those mugs were somewhere around $13-$15. :confused3 safetymom will know for sure. :thumbsup2

Again, Congrats on the GREAT WIN!!! :yay:

The refillable mugs are $11.99. There are two styles to choose from, and several colors of each style.

Do the two styles hold the same amount of liquid?

TIA,

Loralie

In September I bought one but as I was looking at the mugs and asked if there was a price difference between the different styles the cast member said “no they are the same price’ and as I started to ask a follow up question she replied with “I already know your answer and they hold the same amount”. I guess they get asked that a lot. My mug holds exactly 16oz without ice. Hope that helps.
