The last time we were at CBR was 12/2001 - 1/2002, I have some questions:

Is there any kind of WiFi internet access or dial up?

Does anyone know of a Whole Foods -- organic food store between the airport and CBR?

Generally I am already packed and ready to go, I somehow managed to get the flu AND strep throat, I am taking it easy and waiting for the antibiotics to kick in!

well we leave Nov 2- but i got a letter yesterday letting me know that they will be doing construction on the walkways around the pool while we are there. The pool will be open, but i do not believe that it will be relaxing when i can see and hear construction! How close is the walkway- My6 kids live for the pool so i know e will be spending time there. Should i switch?

We are also going in early November, as our some good friends of ours. Both families are staying at CBR. Neither group has received the 'pool-walkway construction' letter so I called WDW and asked about *any* possible construction going on during our timeframe. The CM said there wasn't going to be any. Is he wrong? That's certainly possible...
I have stayed at Disney resorts before while the themed pool was undergoing a major rehab. I do NOT want to repeat the experience in any capacity (noxious fumes from the paint, noise, not being able to use the pool, not knowing until we arrived, etc).
If anyone else going in early November has received the 'CBR pool-walkway construction' letter, would you please post it here exactly as written (of course, leaving out personal information)?

i will give you the info related to the pool:

" Although the feature pool located at Old Port Royale will still be open to our guests, we will be doing construction work on the boardwalk around the main pool deck during your upcoming visit. Guests will hear/ and or see construction staff and equipment during the daytime hours in the external areas of the pool."

I feel that if they state pool refurb beginning Jan 08 then they should not start any work until then. The only other moderate that had room was Port Orleans Riverside - Thanks for waiting till the last minute Disney

AUUUUUUUUUUGH!!!

I JUST now got the "For Your Future Enjoyment" letter. I have been at CBR when they were wokring on the pool, I have BEEN at other resorts when the main pool has been closed for my FUTURE enjoyment...
I don't LIKE it.
I don't like the noise. I don't like the noxious fumes. I dont like the dust and the debris.
The January construction was one of the reasons we chose CBR...it was supposed to take place in JANUARY. I really don't care about Future "enjoyment", I am concerned with enjoyment DURING my vacation.

Oh, and to top it all off, I just called WDTC/CRO and the computer system is being "enhanced" and is down right now and won't be up for maybe another hour.

PS - Gee, if they are going to be working on the pool boardwalk, I guess leisurely and quiet visits to the hot tub is a no-go, eh?

I'm curious as to what area the pool boardwalk includes? I've not been there before and cannot find pictures that show it. The only ones I see show a pavement area. Thanks!

To be quite honest I am not sure either and we were there earlier this week.

I am not sure what they are referring to as a boardwalk. Everything is concrete. I guess while they are working on it I will run over and take pictures.

There must be *some* decking around Old Port Royal. It sounds to me like there will be "boardwalk around the main pool deck" extensive rehabbing sometime during our timeframe (Nov 2nd arrival, Nov 7th departure), I would think it would be fairly major if Disney is sending letters out to affected guests. Maybe those who are leaving before that Monday (Nov 5th) won't have their stay affected? A friend spoke to the CBR Front Desk and they said no construction until January, but I think some CMs only know about the January 2008 (to later 2008) Old Port Royale pool construction/shut-down/rehab.

I might get more details by Monday.

I got a letter about the construction at the main pool. My dates are 10/29 thru 11/3. I called and tried to switch resorts. They said the only possible switch was to port orleans. I asked if I could switch to a deluxe, I would pay the extra $$$, but I want the same deal that I got when I booked my reservation. I got 40% off of my room with a package. Disney offered me the Wilderness lodge for an extra $490, which really isn't a deal. I was hoping for something like $170 to $200. I don't think they were applying the 40% discount to any of the prices at the Wilderness Lodge.
I wish I new about the contruction earlier. I would have booked something else when Disney had public codes out. Now it's too late for any other deal.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I mean, I am glad that they sent out these letters, but am wondering why this has to be done during *that* particular week. WDW will be fairly busy with F&W and Jersey Week and with your dates, looks like it might even start *before* Halloween?
Even though this isn't the 2008 pool rehab/construction project, I'm actually surprised all of us got letters at all. I think the noise/inconvenience factor will be somewhat major - WDW certainly doesn't usually send out these types of communications for minor maintenance.
*Not* having construction (as if anyone really says...noise! debris! not being able to use facilities!) going on during our upcoming stay was one of the reasons we picked CBR and now this...it's not the end of the world, but *still*... Another consideration for our extended group, it's supposed to happen during daylight hours and well, both families have teenagers. I'm sure that they would like to at least *try* to sleep in maybe once while we're at WDW - that's a high schooler's idea of a little piece of Heaven. Might be hard with deck construction noise going on.

I just called and I am furious. I was told to call CBR because it doesn't say whether the pool will be closed or not. I'm going for 12 nights and of course there's nothing for me to upgrade to or even transfer to another moderate. So I am stuck..I cannot believe they did this so close to departure. If I would have known this I wouldn't have booked it...I have been on vacation before when construction is going on and it isn't very enjoyable.
