Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ

I totally agree with lakelady. My family and I really love CBR. The grounds are beautiful to walk around. It soooooooo peaceful there, especially in the morning. We stayed in Jamaica 42, great views. We couldn't see the fireworks unless we walked down toward the bridge a bit. Which we did a few nights. We used our car everywhere we went. We did see the buses quite alot. They seem to run every few minutes. Everytime we passed the busstops there was always a bus arriving to pick guests up or drop them off. CBR is an awesome resort. Can't wait to go back!!!! ::yes::

I just read through this entire thread, all 53 pagers!!! It took me a little over 2 hours with a few short breaks!! Any who...

I found out lots of information, enjoyed the trip reports and really like your photos. I really appreciate all the time you devote to this thread.

I have a questions (actually a few) that I haven't seen addressed. I'm not sure if you can answer but perhaps some one out there can help me out...

We will be staying at CBR June 17-20, 2004 before our 4 nite cruise on the Wonder. We requested (through our AAA TA) a prefered building/village @ CBR and of course we were told "they can't guarentee anything". I think I read through this thread that all the cruise land/sea package people are assigned the same building/village for easier pick up. So my questions are...

1. Do all the cruise folks have to stay in the same building?

2. If they do stay together, do you know what building?

3. Do you have any idea what time the DCL bus picks up the cruise people to take them to the port?

4. I have heard the cruise people have to set there luggage outside of their resort door the morning of their cruise in order to have the DCL bus/truck pick up the luggage. Is this true?

5. If it is true, how comfortable should we be leaving our luggage outside our door?

Thanks in advance for the information you are able to provide. All of my other questions about the CBR have been answered through other posters.

Thanks again Safetymom! You are indeed the CBR QUEEN!!!!

You have stumped the CBR Queen! :) I don't know how it works with the Cruise arrangements. Hopefully someone else will post and be able to help you.

They have a bus now? When I went in '93 had to rent a car and make the drive down the bee line.

I doubt they ask you to leave your bags outside your resort room. But that's what they did on the cruise itself when I went.

I also can't imagine that they have the ability to set aside an entire building or area for a specific group. It just doesn't sound feasible.

The rumors that get started on these boards. I think I need to be a little more careful about what I say.

Call 407-934-3400. They should know the answers and they've been really nice when I've called with questions. Apparently their call volume has been down since safetymom started this thread.

I do know that they try to keep the cruise people in their own certain area. There is a bus to the port.

I have read a few posts re: faxing your room preferences in advance. When I booked, I requested a non-smoking room with a king-size bed, however, I would like to expand on and confirm this in the week before arriving. Is there a set form to use? If not, did you simply submit the request as a business letter? Thanks! :earsgirl:

Just call reservations back and have the additional information added to your reservation. Many of the resorts are ignoring the faxes now. You will have the info. in your reservation so they won't need to match up your fax with your reservation.

The CM's at CBR are great at granting requests when you get there. No need to worry.

Whether you decide to fax or just call the resort you can not do it until 4 days out. That's when they get your booking. I've called CRO a couple of times now to add things on. They really don't seem to mind. I've also called the restort and asked them questions. They seemed eager to answer questions as well.

They really don't look at faxes any more? I'd heard they'd stopped at some of the other resorts. But I was hoping that sending my fax would make all the difference.

I am leaving very soon for our land/sea at CBR. Have been on 1 disney cruise, but this will be first land/sea. I do remember hearing that all the cruise people are put in a general area (I think Aruba and Jamacia, but not for sure). There are many threads on the cruise board about land/sea stuff (if you do a search). If you are using Disney transfers...here is how is works:

1. when you get to the airport, disney gets your luggage for you at luggage claim and you just go directly to get on a disney bus. They will take you to your resort and your luggage will show up in your room later. When you get to your resort, you can check-in and go on to a park, even if your room is not ready.

2. when it is time for your cruise, they pick you up at your resort at a specified time (I think the schedule for resort pick-ups is posted on a great disney cruise website www.castawayclub.com) I don't remember the exact time, but it was really late (way after noon) that is why we cancelled our disney transfers and booked happy limo so we could leave at 10:30am. Also, it is true that you leave your luggage outside your room, and they come along and pick it up and transfer it to the ship. When you get to the ship, you can get on and eat lunch, swim, etc...your luggage gets delivered to your room sometime (usually between 2-6pm). They recommend you pack swim suit and change of clothes in carry-on in case your luggage is late.

3. the last night of the cruise, you again set out all of your luggage except your carry-on and they pick it up. The next morning you eat breakfast and get off the ship, claim your luggage and load the bus back to airport. then cry because you have to go home!

I'd be glad to answer any questions for you that I can. If I don't know the answer, then hopefully I will know when I get back!

Aruba and Jamaica? Can anyone verify this? I'm staying at CBR and wanted Aruba or Jamaica. How many people are usually there in CBR for the land/sea? If I wind up in Trinidad South I don't think I'll be as happy. I'm starting to wonder if I should switch to CS.

I found the schedule for cruise bus pick up at CBR and it is 12:45pm which means that you wouldn't get to the port until atleast 2:00pm. I believe they let you start boarding about noon.

I am not at all positive about putting land/cruise people in Aruba & Jamaica....I just thought I remember reading that on the boards. Also, this is a huge..huge resort and I'm sure the land/sea people would not take up all of any village.

I have read through the menus for the food places at Carribean and none of them mention french fries.

So do french fries come with most meals at Old port royale?

yes they do. We had so many french fries while we were there, I was almost sick of them (and that says a lot for me as I Love french fries). Sometimes we would just order a burger or just a hot dog and share the fries.

I am really glad I found this thread. I recently changed my ressies from the All Star Music to CBR. Thanks to the 7/5 deal. We will be there from 11/7 to 11/14. I am really enjoying reading all the great information listed. I just now managed to finish all the pages. Maybe I missed this, but when they refurbished the rooms, did they install the shampoo/bath soap machines? Also, about how large are the room safes?

I can hardly wait to get there. Is there any way to make the time go by faster?:scratchin :hyper:

no there are not soap dispesers in the rooms..kinda like it better that way myself...
the room safes are pretty small...

maybe 24 inches by 24 inches and like 3 inches deep...
enough to keep credit cards...wallets jewelry in it...
Lotsa people ask if u can fit a laptop in em ....they are too small for a laptop if that gives u a picture of the size...

as far as the time goes..Unfortunately there is no way..
We are going in december, were supposed to be on a family trip right now but i just got a job so i had to cancel....they are calling every day saying how my 5 year old nephew is haveing such a good time for his 5th b-day so i know how u feel about wishing it was here....quick....

we are so bummed that we arent there right now with the family
missing so much

I do not recall soap dispensers and such, but I could be mistaken. As for the room safe, not large enough for a laptop, but enough room for my digi camera, wallet, "other keys" mouskeeping envelopes with room to spare.

There are no soap dispensers in the rooms. It is the little bottles of shampoo, lotion, bars of Mickey soap.

does CBR have Pack n' Plays they rent? If so how much are they and can you get two?
