Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ

What frequently asked questions would you like to see on the first page of the CBR FAQ's?

I am trying to condense the materials so someone new to CBR doesn't have to read through all the pages. Please let me know your questions and I will try to get the answers on the first page.

Thanks.

Thanks safetymom for asking that, good idea.

Subjects I think would be useful on the front page which often crop up are-

(a) Distances between buildings and main area (what are the nearest buildings)

(b) Transport within CBR and to other Disney areas (people are often not aware that only buses operate from CBR).

(c) A list of useful links like to your map

I've found information on transport, room sizes and facilities useful; also info about the food court, what food is available; and tips such as being able to see the Epcot fireworks from the bridge in Jamaica!
Really good thread, and I have read it all ! But putting the main FAQs at the front is a great idea....

;)

Why not condense all the info into a CBR FAQ 2

and include a nice assortment of photos displayed in the THread. THen this one can get locked and we all move over to the new one. All the info without fourty some odd pages would be great!

Is high speed internet available in the rooms? I keep telling DH he will not have time to need it, but he is itching to know!:scratchin

I did, I used to work for an ISP and I am constantly on line. Wireless laptop on the couch on the web while doing other things. I did bring the laptop with me last time, but I used it to download pics from the Digi Cam.

Is there a centre (like an internet cafe) in CBR where I can pay to use the internet for a while? Do you have internet cafes over there?

safetymom - do you mean only dial up using connection in your room? I am looking at ways to avoid bringing my laptop. May decide I cannot live without it for three weeks!

They provide the phone line you provide the hardware and ISP. it is also not very cheap either. Even if you get a local number for your ISP, you are still charged the standard room fee for the phone call.

Also If you have your system set up to autoreconnect in the background, every time the line drops (which can be frequent, it depends) will cost an additional $0.75 connect charge.

I only take my laptop to store digital pics and digital movies.

I have also recently thought about the plug power supply for my laptop (recharging or using while plugged into socket). The difference in electricity supply between the US and UK can cause a problem, but apparently you can get a gadget to solve this problem.

I have a nice digital camera and would love to use it, but as we are staying for three weeks it might be a problem regarding memory on the camera. Even if we had enough memory on the camera, I would feel happier being able to download the pictures daily.

A quick trip to RadioShack will do the trick. Or just bring enough batteries for the camera and only use the laptop to download pictures periodically.

Anyway, I just picked up a universal laptop power supply from RadioShack. It handles just aout any modern machine. What is your make and model and I'll check. It's about 100USD

If you only need to check e-mail and some other very light Internet access you can do so via the phone kiosk at Old Port Royale. It costs $1.00US per four minutes of usage, credit cards are accepted. There's only one kiosk so there can be a bit of wait, and the keyboard/touchscreen can be a bit of bear to use, but you can access and reply to important e-mails without the burden of a laptop.

Hi All!

Sooooo glad I found this board!!! :Pinkbounc

I tried looking back through all the pages to find an answer to my questions..but :earseek: lol

Sorry if this has been asked and answered a million times, but we just got our ressies for CBR and this will be our first stay at this resort. Can anyone give me a general idea of pool hours, both the quiet pools and the OPR main pool?

Any help would be very much appreciated! :) TIA!

(oops..posted this on the main board when I meant to post it here  )

7 AM to midnight at both the Quiet pool and the main pool at OPR.

Slide open and lifeguards 10 AM- 8 PM

Towels are provided at the main pool. You need to bring a room towel to the quiet pools.

I apologize if this was somewhere in the thread and I missed it, I did read thru the whole thread and learned a lot of things I didn't know!!

We (myself, DH, and 2 DS or monkeys as I like to call them) will be staying at CBR for the first time in December. I'm going to make several PSs for as early as I can make them. My question is how early do the park busses start running? We will have a rental car and am just wondering if it would be better to drive those days.

TIA!
