Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Mississippianna- I'm traveling with my daughter who will be 23 months when we go. She's too big for the portacrib so I'm probably going to ask for two or three sets of bedrails and she and my son will sleep in one bed together. I'll put bedrails all around except for one spot so he can get out to potty if needed. It's either that or I'm toying around with getting a Ready Bed for her. Have you looked at those? It kind of dips in the middle so the child doesn't fall out too easily plus it's close to the ground in case they do!

Thank you for the suggestions, all! Both that and the Aero for kids look like a good idea.

It's hard to know what her sleeping habits and needs will be then at 18 months versus now at 14 months, too. Everything changes so fast at this age. We're traveling to see family for Christmas, so we will try again with sleeping in a Pak-n-Play then and decide after that what we need to arrange for our trip in February, I guess. I have been considering just going with a 2 queens room and putting bedrails on one of the beds for her. That seems like our best bet. None of us ever sleeps well with her in bed with us.

I just returned from a visit and stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort (beautiful). I noticed early on that sometimes when my door shut it did not lock. I advise people to double check the security of the doors everytime you leave the room.
I'm returning to WDW and staying at the CBR this January for my 25th ( :cool1: ) Wedding Anniversary! I will be diligent here as always.

It took a couple weeks, but I finally made it through all 191 pages! you guys are great! Thanks to safetymom especially for all your hard work and answering so many questions. (I was laughing hysterically after a while every time someone asked if the pool would be open by x date....:rotfl: )

ANYWAYS, I just wanted to chime in on this post...my husband and I had a laptop stolen at a hotel in Philadelphia (where we're from) last year. The room was right next to the elevator, and it looks like the door didn't shut all the way (it dragged on the carpet, so while it LOOKED like it automatically shut/locked, it apparently didn't).
Now when we go to hotels, we make sure to double check EVERY time we leave the room that the door shut and locked. On our trip a couple weeks ago, we had a one-day stay at the Allstar sports and it DID NOT shut automatically. It could have just been our room, but we had to pull it closed every time. When we were at the Beach Club later in the week, the door closed and locked correctly, but we checked every time nonetheless.

I make fun of my mom because she's panicky about everything and I refuse to worry about anything - but in this case, it's good advice!

Also, catbertdave99, you're going to be at CBR the same time as me =) I've never stayed at CBR - I'm taking DH, my mom, dad, brother, his fiance, her son, and my 87-yo grandfather, so this should be an interesting trip to plan!

Very cool! You will LOVE CBR!!! And I second your thanks to Safetymom -- she does a great job keeping us all in the loop!!:thumbsup2

It is my pleasure updating this thread. I can remember when people would post pictures and details while they were at WDW when I lived in PA. Just returning the favor.

Caribbean Beach is a beautiful resort. You will love it!!!

Have you looked at the Aero Beds for Kids? I looked at both and went with the Aero bed. We loved it and will get to use it for years to come.

They look nice! I already have a ready bed for my son- it's Thomas the Tank but I'm afraid if I take it for her to use then he'll want to use it too. I don't want to have to buy one just for this trip. She's in a toddler bed now so I'm hoping not to have to pack any beds and just uset the ones in the hotel!

leaving in 9 hrs. I don't think I'll be able to sleep:dance3:

Has anyone hade a cake delivered to the CBR? Do you know where the cakes come from?

I'd love to know the answer to this too. I've read the cake thread on the restaurant board but haven't seen anyone mention ordering one for CBR.

I read that thread too and couldnt find a thing. I was hoping they where not just from the food court.

As for the cakes I wonder if they come from shutters because it is the Full service rest.??? I would call the chef/Cake hotline ahead and make sure that is where they come from.

Question for all of the Regulars.

I booked my trip and in the request I put in order corner room, 1st floor close to parking. Does this sound right it is in the order I want them in,but I wasn't sure what they would think when I put close to parking. I don't really want to be overlooking the lot.

Close to parking could be facing the parking lot. Unless requesting water view, all other rooms either face garden area or parking.

We usually just request 1st floor and always have gotten it; only once requested Jamaica and did receive it. Most times have gotten room facing garden area. Sometimes close to parking sometimes not.

Have fun :)

Forgive me if these questions have already been asked... feel free to point me in the right direction also.

My FIL is graciously taking the family to WDW and asked me to book it! We stayed at POR years ago and did enjoy it. I considered the value resorts this time, but when looking at a comparison chart, the CBR caught my eye because of, well, the beach! My kids love the beach, so I thought it would be a nice spot on any down day we might have. However, I then read that there is no swimming in the lake at CBR. Hm.. this puzzles me because I'm not sure how I can keep my kids out of the water if we are on the beach (maybe I'm having a blonde moment here).

Also, I've booked us preferred rooms, but is it really worth the extra money? For those of you who've stayed there, is it really very far to Port Royale from some of the villages? If I downgrade to standard, where should I request?

Thanks in advance! We're going in April and I'm thrilled

There is no swimming allowed in any of the lakes on WDW property. Think alligators, snakes, etc. There is also a fresh water amoeba that if it gets in your system can kill you.

I would think your kids would love the pool at CBR.

If you don't want to pay for preferred then request Jamaica or Aruba.

99 Days Left!!! :yay:

We are keeping it a surprise and it has been so hard not to tell DD that we are going back!!!

Our corner room was the closest room to the parking lot...however, you don't really see the parking lot that well at all because of the folliage. :) We really enjoyed our corner room...Jamaica 4432. :)

Thank You I would love to stay in Jamaica, but I was afraid I wouldn't be near the parking. Also a corner room means only one side of neighbors and with a tired baby I think it makes all the difference.

Each island has their own parking area as well as bus stop. We absolutely love the lay-out of CBR. Very easy to navigate and if you have your own car that much quicker to each of the parks or other resorts. The key request for me with young one's would be 1st floor. I would hate having to lug a stroller up and down steps. Corner rooms are really nice with the extra window, but no different any other way to other rooms. We checked out of CBR on Nov. 16th and they were starting the renovations to Jamaica 45 and looked like they were going to start on 44 since those doing the renovations asked us which rooms we were leaving. :)
