Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

I have looked everywhere I can think of, and cannot find anything specific about cribs at CBR. Our daughter will be 18 months when we go, and doesn't sleep well at all in a Pack n Play. I was told that they do have actual cribs by the Disney travel people when I booked. Has anyone had experience with these cribs? Any photos?

Just got the:thumbsup2 "thumbs up":thumbsup2 from my DD and grandson on CBR and a Pirate room for Oct 2009.pirate:
Now if I can get Capt. Jack to tuck me in .....

Does anyone know the locations of the King Bed rooms? Are their some in every building? Do they typically face the parking lot?

Have they started working on the Pirate rooms yet?

I know they have done Martinique and Barbados and are working on Aruba, and will probably head to Jamaica from there. . . But the Pirate rooms (Trinidad South) are scheduled to open up in January, just curious if they have started them yet. . . They look so cool, and I would imagine they will take some time to complete. . .

I have gotten a crib at CBR. Sorry, I don't think that I have any pictures. It is not a full size crib-it is a little smaller. It was wood and had wheels for moving around. I thought the pack n play would be better because the crib was a little wobbly. Could have just been the one we had tho. I totally understand-our youngest doesn't sleep in the pack n play either. I have seen some other options that I am looking into.

There's no pattern as to where the king-size bed rooms are located. There are some in every village, in every room category, in every view. Like I said, no pattern at all.

However, what you CAN'T do is reserve a king-size bed room along with another "upgrade" at the same time. For example, if you want to reserve one, you can't reserve one with a water view, and you can't reserve one in a preferred location building.

If you want 2 or more upgrades, you should reserve and pay for the one you want the most (the one to guarantee), and then request the other(s).

We arrived back home today from another overall wonderful stay at CBR. This was our 5th stay at CBR and we were placed in Jamaica 4432 (corner room close to parking lot with 2 windows), 4431 and 4430. Another perfect location...short walk from our cars, right down the path from the quiet pool, around the corner from a very nice designated smoking section and a quick walk to OPR. Housekeeping was great as always. I've never had a bad experience with housekeeping or a dirty room.

This part is for smoker's so please don't flame...the courtyard designated smoking sections are very nice! Plenty of benches, tables and umbrella's for cover during rain. We met so many nice people during our breaks at the smoking area's.

They were finishing up with renovations to Aruba and have started the renovations at Jamaica 45. The rooms we were assigned of course were not renovated as of yet, but when we were leaving yesterday morning it looked like they were going to start on building 44. I could not find out any information on the Pirate rooms in Trinidad South.

I do have two complaints this time around. I was very disappointed not to hear the caribbean music piped through the island leading to OPR. The only caribbean music we found was at Banana Cabana and inside OPR. The music they use to pipe through the island truly set the mood and was really missed. The other complaint is the fence around the pool and closing the pool at 10pm. If you spend all day in the parks you can't get back in time to hit the pool or to soak in the hot tub. This is one of the main reasons we book a moderate resort...to take advantage of a nice pool and hot tubs which could not be used when returning from spending the day at the parks due to it being closed. If they're going to start fencing and locking gates to the main pools I feel they should at least keep it open for use until midnight. This is an amenity we pay good money for, but with the new rules we could not enjoy a nice long soak in the hot tub at the end of the night after being in the parks all day and boy did we miss this amenity!!!! I'm sorry to say, but my husband, parents and I will all be writing letters of complaint regarding this issue.

CBR is still our favorite Moderate Resort, but these two issues did take away from our overall enjoyment.

I agree with you about the pool. I wonder if they are going to do that at every pool they refurb?

Back when I was over at CBR almost daily waiting for the pool to open there was music on the island. It must be fairly recent if they stopped playing music.

My husband was wondering if maybe they're getting ready to renovate the walkway through the island to match up with the new walkway that was placed when they renovated the pool and maybe that is why the music wasn't piped through. It was just a guess and hopefully the music will be back soon!

Now to unfortunately write letters of complaint regarding the fence and locked gates around pool before guests even return from the parks at night.

A bit of sad CBR news, courtesy of Mouseplanet:

An Orange County Sheriff's report indicates that an unnamed 71-year-old concierge at the Caribbean Beach Resort tripped over a phone cord at her desk and hit her head on the floor last Sunday. She was transported to Celebration Hospital and later airlifted to Florida South Hospital, but the woman will reportedly not survive the head trauma. Our condolences go out to the woman's family, friends and co-workers.

Well, I just checked the website again and called the resort. The woman I spoke to at CBR says they only have Pak-n-Play cribs. I don't know what we'll do.

I posted this seperately but no one responded.

I need some help:

My husband and I are flying to Disney on our 25th Wedding Anniversary! Unfortunately, we get into MCO at 9:30, so I don't expect to reach our resort until 10:30 or so. What will be open for us to eat? Since we're from the West Coast it'll be 7:30 by our body clocks...I hate the idea that on our Anniversary we'll be eating cold sandwiches.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the report. :goodvibes

I will miss the Caribbean music too if it is not being played anymore. It really does kind of set the mood. We are not late night swimmers so the pool issue won't really affect us. But I can see how it would upset some people.

I'm glad to hear that they are starting on Jamaica. We requested it for our January stay. Hopefully it will be done by then. I am hoping to get a look at the Pirate rooms when we are there too. We arrive on the 20th and I think they are set to open on the 24th. . .

You might want to grab something to eat at the airport. They might still be open. The food court at CBR is open to 11.
