Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Good evening,

I am sure this has been asked 10 times over, but we are going to CBR in December (2nd week) and was wondering what villages have had the Nemo renovation? We are not in a preferred room, just a standard and am hoping for a renovated nemo room. What do you think our changes are?

This will be our first time staying at Disney and crossing our fingers for the new rooms :thumbsup2
I'll guess that your chance is about 1 in 3, or 33%.

They started the refub in Martinique, and then went to Barbados. Let's assume Barbados is done but they haven't started Aruba yet. That would mean there are 9 buildings refurbed so far that are in your ballpark (all 6 in Barbados, and the 3 buildings in Martinique that are NOT preferred location). There are 33 buildings in the resort, 6 are preferred location, leaving 27 that are not. Of those 27, we're assuming 9 have been refurbed thus far. 9 out of 27 is exactly a 1 out of 3 chance.

That's just by math, by random chance. Your odds are probably less, considering that at least some people will request a Nemo room, which makes it non-random.

The village pool in Trinidad north is closed, for refurb. I'm not sure when it will be open. Last night a water main broke at the bus stop for OPR. The road was flooded, people were complaining they couldn't use the bus stop and had to go up by the driveway to OPR to get on the bus.

Hi! I apologize as I'm sure the info is here somewhere... but does anyone know if the preferred rooms have been refurbed yet? If so, which ones? Thanks!
Kim :)

We're in the planning stage for our next WDW trip-Oct 2009- And wondered if the Pirate rooms are finished yet. I saw the artist renderings, but didn't find the info I wanted. Has any one stayed in a pirate: room yet? Any real pics?

I am concerned with the bus system. Do the CBR buses pick you up and then stop at every CBR stop along the way? Iwas happy with POFQ buses- We only stopped, I think once at POR evn.:thumbsup2

CBR park buses make 7 stops. Even if you are at the first stop each time, making the other 6 stops doesn't take as long as it may seem it would take. I've stayed at CBR twice and never considered it a problem. I also stayed at POFQ once, and didn't find it a whole lot different; when we went into POR (which wasn't every time), that made a total of 5 stops as compared with CBR's 7.

If it helps, CBR is a little closer to Epcot and DHS and a lot closer to AK and about the same distance to MK, as compared with POFQ ... so maybe those extra stops don't take any more time than it does to drive farther to the parks from POFQ.

Thanks, I feel better now....:cloud9:

Just wanted to say thanks for all the info! We'd always done values but thanks to my Snowbird friends on another thread, we decided to try out CBR with the 4/3 package! I appreciate all the insight! I CAN'T WAIT!

I just switched my resie from Pop to CBR. I have been dying to stay there so I'm very excited. Will they be finished refurbing the rooms by then?

I'm so jealous!!! Good for you!

When are you going? It usually takes some months to complete a refurb.

Hope you enjoy a Nemo room! :goodvibes

Another bus question. Seeing that Trinidad South is the last bus stop, do the buses bypass that stop if the bus is full? Do they send out another bus immediately if that's the case?
My son wants to stay in the Pirate themed room this August, so the buses are a concern.

How much extra did it cost?

I'm not the poster who upgrade but I also did. I had POP originally for 2 adults, 2 kids 9 and 3, for 7 nights with park hoppers for 8 days and the dining plan. It was 3100. When the 4/3 deal came out I upgraded to CBR and it's now 2800. It would have been 2550 with POP. I went for the upgrade because I really wanted to stay here in the first place but couldn't really afford it. Now we can and are so excited!!!!!!!!!!!

Trinidad South is the last stop for buses going to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. But it's the 4th of 7 stops for Magic Kingdom and Downtown Disney buses.

We just Booked CBR again after having to cancel our last trip.
I have a few questions for all of the Experts on the DIS

Is having a preferred room worth it? We will have a 14 yo and a 22 month old with us.

I have requested a 1st rooms floor because there are no elevators right?

Also should I request a specific building? We will have our own car.

It cost us $412 to upgrade from a preferred room at Pop to a water view room at CBR for 8 nights. We wanted a preferred room but water view was the only thing available when we switched.

We also really wanted to stay here! DS doesn't know about the trip but he's going to be SO excited when we get there.

Martinique bldg 22 is a nice location and not preferred and not often requested since many like Jamaica or Aruba - but we're not crazy about the walk over the bridge every day. Like the walk along the lake to OPR from Martinique. Might request a corner room as well. ::yes:: Oh! and Martinique rooms have been refurbished. :)

Yes, no elevators at CBR. Very tropical!

Have a wonderful stay!:goodvibes

Please remind me of the approximate travel times to each park once the bus actually exits the resort. Thanks so much.

Roughly ...

... 3-4 minutes to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

... 8-10 minutes to Epcot.

... about 15 minutes to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom.
