Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

We are looking forward to our first stay at CBR. We were at POR in Jan and booked a bounce back, were told at the time only CBR was available so we booked it. We will be staying in a waterview room during the food and wine festival at epcot. Our last trip was totally commando and we had a blast but were beat needless to say. We plan to take this trip more leisurely, and enjoy the surroundings. We will be there late September, this should be a good time as far as crowds go, right? Anyway, thanks safetymom for the pics of the pool renovation, hope its open by the time we get there! Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!

how much additonal money is the preferred rooms? also, where are they located?

It is typically $15 a night. They are located in Bldgs. 31, 32, & 33 in Trinidad North, and Bldgs. 24, 25, & 26 in Martinique. We were in in 33 Trinidad North last trip and we have requested Marinique this year, I don't care which Bldg. I'd like a 2nd floor and facing a courtyard. But will be happy where ever they put us. We love CBR.

My DS and I stayed at CBR 2 years ago and we loved it! We are planning our annual summer trip but this time my sister, her DS and my mom are coming. So I am looking into getting 2 rooms. Since my mom is coming this will be a more laid back vacation. We would probably spend a fare amount of time at the resort. I know she would love the grounds and my mom is just as picky an eater as any child so I think the food court would work for her.

My question is - since the main pool is closed how crowded are the village pools? Does the main pool closure effect your overall stay at the resort? My DS loves pool slides. I told him that we could go to the water parks an extra day.

Any opinions?

They have installed small pool slides at Jamaica and Barbados. The pools don't see much more crowded.

Safetymom - do you know if they are going to keep the smaller pool's additions there after the new pool is open, or were these just temporary for during the construction?

I am pretty sure they will remove them once the main pool opens. Since they have to staff the pool with lifeguards now.

sorry if this has been covered...this is a long-stinkin' thread! :goodvibes

There's quite a bit of difference between the new pool sketches in posts #7 and #8. The first resembles a pirate ship. The second...I dunno...some Spanish ruins? :confused3 Are these 2 SEPARATE parts of the pool? Or is only one of those two plans being used? My boys are really excited about a pirate ship pool.

Thank you!

A Preferred location is not just for the asking. There is an additional fee to pay for a preferred location.

Many like Jamaica or Aruba if they don't want to pay for a preferred location. There is a bus stop at every village so you are never far from a bus stop.

That is subjective..We stayed in building 51 in Aruba. We were in a corner room so the Aruba stop was a hike..We ended up discovering the Jamaica stop was closer for us and still quite a walk. IMO.

For those guests bringing their own car, where would we park?

Everyone is complaining about the long hike to the bus, but if you have a car and don't need the bus would I still have a long hike to my car?

Nope, you won't have a long hike to your car. There are parking lots at each Village. They are by builing number. Very close walk to your car IMO. We always drive a rental - much easier for us then lugging the stroller onto the buses.:)

thanks for the info. but i was looking for resent stuff. i will be there this sept. 2008 and was wondering what it looked like NOW. (may 2008). do you know of anyone that has pics of a resent trip? thanks!

I am not sure what you want pictures of. The pool photos are updated every couple of weeks. The resort looks the same.

I am over there quite often if there is something you want a picture of.

safetymom - do you know how many washers/dryers are available at each area of CBR? I am trying to do all of the laundry one day in the middle of the trip, but with a three year old in tow we will have a lot.... :)

We stayed in Trinidad North last year and we did laundry one day, in the laundry room there were about 8 washers and dryers in the laundry room. And I think there are identical ones in each village.

If i'm in a preferred room.. Is it safe to assume i will get a room with a king bed? There was no preferred-king option.
