Safetymom ...
Thanks for the photos of the pool ... We love the CBR and will be returning home this November.
Do you think the pool will be done on time ????

I apologize if this has already been covered. Does anyone know if the kiddie pool section of the main pool is staying or are they removing/redesigning that? We really love that part of the pool - I think it may be the nicest "kiddie" pool I've ever seen.:goodvibes

The pools are gone. Not sure what they are doing for the little ones at the new pool complex.

Thanks for the piccies of the slide at Jamaica, Safetymum. We are staying at CBR in August & are going to request Jamaica. I was wondering would we be allowed to take drinks & snacks around the pool area, we fancy just relaxing there while ds10 has a swim/play?

I've got a question.....

There are several things that I'd like to pick up to keep in the room for our stay, but I don't think it's enough to bother with having Garden Grocer ship out a bag of groceries. (Especially since we're going to be on the DDP, and I'm sure we'll have some leftover food here and there.) Basically, I just need to pick up some milk, apple juice, bananas, grapes, some apples, and maybe some yogurt and some string cheese. Can I get that stuff at the Grab and Go Market? If not, is there somewhere else at CBR that I can pick it up?

I plan on bringing snacks and some single serve cereal boxes in our luggage on the way down, so I really just need the fresh stuff and the liquids.

You can get all the fruit and yogurt you mentioned in the grab n go area (you could even use your snack credits!) The milk and juice is available in the shop in Old Port Royale. I'd just wait until you arrive & pick it up there. I've never looked for cheese in the store, so I couldn't say. But there is a great little cheese & fruit snack you can get in the grab n go area, but I don't think it is considered a snack. :goodvibes

Sory if this has been asked but is there a microwave in the food court area? I need to heat baby food.

Thanks

Depending on the packaging, you can also heat baby food in your room. Rn water through your room's coffee maker, without putting coffee into it, of course. You can then place the jar of baby food into the pot of hot water (after it's done filling). Put in enough water so that the jar will be about half immersed in the water.

We did this a lot at home, except we used the "instant hot" from our sink to supply the hot water. My wife, a board certified pediatrician, always preferred this method of heating bottles and food rather than the microwave since microwaves can produce dangerous "hot pockets" in liquids and purees.

I was hoping to book POR for a few days in December, but they're sold out due to Pop Warner I guess. So, I was looking for alternatives in the moderate....POFQ doesn't really suit me.....CSR looks too much like home (I'm in Arizona) so CBR sounds like a good fit...and the pictures are beautiful!

I have one major concern...I've read it's 2 storys and no elevators. While I'm not officially handicapped, I do have rather serious mobility issues....going up a flight of stairs is very difficult for me. If it's an attraction, I've been known to pass it up if there are stairs....if I really really want to go I can do it, but I'm slow and it's painful so the desire must be high and it's gotta be early in the day, lol. No way would I be happy doing stairs every morning on the way out of the resort.....and no way COULD I do it in the evening when I'm already dragging and in pain from walking Disney all day.

On Allears it says if you don't want to do stairs to ask for a 1st floor room. My question is whether this is something that you can tell them you have mobility issues and they'll make SURE that you get a 1st floor room. Or is it like other resorts where you request a particular building, they write it down and it's the luck of the draw whether you get it or not. I can live with not getting a building I want....I'm not sure I could handle a week of trying to get up a flight of stairs. That could literally be impossible for me on some bad days. But, as I said, I'm not officialy handicapped, I don't have a wheelchair or a placque or anything, so how do I prove to them I can't do it?

I read that there are 21 special needs rooms, but I really don't need the walk in shower and such that special needs room usually have, but if that's the only way to ensure that I get a 1st floor room....do these rooms cost extra? Are they something that is guarantee booked, or is it the same "ask to have it noted on your ressie"?

I'm not so much concerned with the long walks to the food court, as I'd send the kids anyway....they do a lot of running and fetching for me inside Disney, so no differnt at a resort, lol. They'll stay nice and slender and atheletic this way, is my theory. I'd actually rather have a quiet building than a close to the attractions one since I have my runners.

So...any advice on how to be sure I get a 1st floor room? Once I'm at check in if it's not available, then what!?!?

Aribelle,

I was just about to post a similiar question. We are going with my parents and I think my dad would definitely need a 1st floor room because of knee and back issues. We are going 11/28 - 12/5. When are you going to be there?

I have ALWAYS gotten a first floor room. I have a double stroller and there was no way I was getting that up to the second floor. I have always put in the request when I make the ressie, I call about 2-3 weeks before to make sure it is in my notes for my ressie, and then at check-in I remind them. I know that requests are just that--requests and they are not guarenteed. But, CBR is such a huge resort, and if room location isn't a big deal, they shouldn't have trouble finding ONE room on the first floor. :rolleyes1

Not sure if that helps, but it has always worked for me. Has anyone had an experience where it didn't?

Right now I'm looking at ending our trip onsite, so that would be 12/6 or 7 until the 10th or 11th, so it looks like just after you. Hmmmm...maybe I could specifically ask for your room when you're done with it, lol.

Hmillerbarilla....thanks for letting us know that. I have twins, so I know all about those double strollers, lol. I remember the struggle of just getting it into the back of the van, forget about up stairs! And I guess it would be safe to assume that if they are able to put you in a first floor because of a stroller, then someone with medical issues should also be easily accomodated. That's reassuring to know!

ETA: Oh dear....I just reread my comment to Hmillerbarilla, and please take it as poor writing skills! Rereading it sounds like you don't deserve a first floor, which obviously isn't how I meant it....having hupped those double strollers around for several years (and that was back when I was in pretty decent health), I KNOW that isn't what I meant. Ok, I'll stop now and hope that you understand because trying to reexplain just wedges my foot deeper, lol.

No offense taken at all! I actully never blame it on the double stroller either.. I just ask for the first floor for no particular reason. :rolleyes1

Hope you have a great trip & enjoy the CBR. :lovestruc We have so many great memories there, and keep going back! Our next trip is one of the very few that we won't be staying there!

I don't have extra time at the moment to read thru all the posts on this thread......I finally made up my mind to give CBR a try after I posted concerns about trying it, and well, after all my research & DIS'ers comments & looking at all your photos, we are going to give it a whirl!!!

Okay, my (repetitive) question, which I know is on here somewhere......

When booking my ressie for CBR & finally confirming it with the ressie CM, Do I request a "Preferred Location" or whatever its called and/or a specific building/room number ????? I want to request it all !!! AND......what building is the best for location!!!!

PLEASE OH PLEASE, ease my mind and just write it down for me one more time......What is the Best Room Place to Be so we can walk to Food Court, Pool & Busses !!! I really need your expertise on this !! THANKS A BIG OLE' DISNEY BUNCH !!!
:grouphug: :beach: :thanks:

A Preferred location is not just for the asking. There is an additional fee to pay for a preferred location.

Many like Jamaica or Aruba if they don't want to pay for a preferred location. There is a bus stop at every village so you are never far from a bus stop.

After our first visit in Martinque Bldg 25, I knew that I wanted that exact location the next time. (The first visit's request was simply 'preferred location') - so, on my ressie I simply put "Martinque Bldg 25' and got it!

The first time we were on the 2nd floor over looking the lake - but honestly, preferred our second location which was in the courtyard area. I really don't think there is a bad spot, but I would definitely pay the extra for the preferred location. The entire resort is so beautifully landscaped, that I would be fine with a parking lot view...seriously.
