We had our then 17 month old with us and had a courtyard view. We just took the stroller to the room with us everytime we came back from the parks or what-not.

I have tons of CBR room pictures with our 'baby' gear in my TR if you are interested. Links in Post #2

Thanks Your TR was great your munchkin is so CUTE. It really helped me get an idea of what I could get in the fridge. The only problem with bringing the stroller back and forth is we will be in a room with 2 doubles. I do love your air matress may I ask where you got it from?

Thank you for the nice words about my DS.
That is an AeroBed for Kids. I ordered online from Kohls, but it's available at other stores. We loved it because it's firm and the sides are raised so little ones just can't roll off.

Subbing, just booked our first Moderate. We just came back from WDW in August. Now I thought I would surprise my son and well me as well with Star Wars Weekend at WDW.

Man I am going to have to do a lot of reading.

I know i could serch for this info, but being lazy...do ALL CBR rooms have coffee makers now?

I've looked and was not able to find this info so I'm guessing the answer is no.

Is there a hot tub at CBR?

TIA!

I have read thru 30 pages of this thread, plan on reading the rest when I have time.

I know that this has been answered here at least 100 times, I am going standard, because we like being away from the main area, but we like being close enough to take a nice walk there when we want to go there. I have seen several suggestions for Aruba and Jamaica in this case. My question is. . .Are all of the buildings in these two villages standard? One more question. . . Have they all been renovated to the Nemo rooms? We are not going till May, but I need to call and let them know about my kids birthdays, so I thought I would make my village request while I was talking to them.

Aside from Pirate rooms, CBR has 4 room categories: standard, preferred location, water view, and king-size bed. Jamaica and Aruba have no preferred location rooms. But ALL villages (including Aruba and Jamaica) have some water view rooms and some king-size bed rooms, as well as standard rooms.

Aruba rooms have already been refurbished. Jamaica is either in-process or done. If Jamaica isn't done, it'll surely be done by May. May is 4 months from now, and I don't think it's even been 4 months since they started, and they've accomplished Martinique, Barbados, Aruba and at least part of Jamaica already ... so no worries about all of Jamaica being done by then.

Thank you so much! You and safty mom are so knowledgable.

This thread is just TOO good...it moved along so fast that a couple of my burning Qs got passed by:goodvibes . So, I'll try one more time:

Although we stayed at Caribbean Beach once before, it was 15 years ago, so DW and I are looking forward to re-discovering it. I have some general questions about the food there, and would appreciate it if the "veterans" (e.g., safetymom, CleveRocks, others) would weigh in on them.

-I recall that back in the early 90s the food court seemed quite cramped, mostly because of its rectangular layout (as opposed to the more open floor plan at the other moderates). How well do things move along these days? Is it especially important to avoid the most popular hours for the three meals of the day? Also, does the CBR food court have any "special" food offerings (e.g., like the beignets at POFQ)?

-What are your experiences with Shutters, both food quality-wise and crowd-wise? Is it usually available for walk up, or is a reservation needed for the more popular hours? Are there any favorite items on the breakfast or lunch/dinner menus?

Thanks in advance.

The food court can be cramped during the busy times. They do have central check outs instead of paying at each station as they used to have.

No special menu items.

Shutters never seems that busy to me. I do know those that make an ADR for the restaurant as it has its busy times also.

Sure there is a hot tub. It is a nice size hot tub.

I was wondering if they are still closing the main pool area early? I remember someone reporting that when they got back from their trip. Sometimes at night we like to hit the pool or hot tub.
Thanks

Hey everyone, thanks for all the great cbr info!!!

We are booking cbr for feb 8-13th and I wanted to know if anyone could recommend the best way to guarantee martinique 1st floor. I am in my 1st trimester and am exhasted as it is. I know I will not want to do the far hikes to the other bldgs and the stairs lugging all our crap.

Also, are the corner rooms better?

TIA

:beach:

I know this is a late reply but....we stayed in CBR last month (early December '08). We reserved a standard room. At the time of the reservation, I requested Martinique. I had to call the day before our planned trip to change the resevation due to a death in the family. We pushed the trip back by 4 days. At that time we again requested Martinique. We requested Martinique again upon check in. We ended up with Martinique Building 25, 1st floor corner room! We absolutely loved it! This room could not have been more perfect. I am a little confused about what is standard and what is preferred. We paid for a standard, but this room should be preferred. As for getting in Martinique, I am not sure if it was the fact that I mentioned Martinique three times (maybe just one of those was the right time to ask), or if CBR was trying to give us a little bit of magic in light of our loss, or if we just got a wonderful room by the luck of the draw. Whatever it was the room was just right and we will be crossing our fingers to get that very room again in June!

Here are some pics of the room and you can decide if a first floor corner room is any better.

Now, that is a water view!

This shot is blurry, but it was taken from our doorway and you can see how close we are to the beach/water.

This shot was taken just a few steps from our room. In this shot, you can see the water, a little of the beach, and YES that is Old Port Royal (where the pool and food court are located). FYI we often used the bus stop just outside of Old Port Royal and found that it was just as close as the Martinique stop.

That is our room just over my son's shoulder!!

These next two shots represent ds's favorite thing about our room (the beach!) (the sun was setting, and that last pic does not do the scene justice!)

Have a great trip in February. I know that no matter what room you end up in, you are just going to love CBR!

In my opinion, too many people fuss over the size and subsequent walking distance at CBR. Even the CM's kept reminding us of the internal bus system. Despite the wonderful location of our room, we did visit other areas of the resort and found that the walking was wonderful. In fact, what one CM told us would take 15 mins by foot, only took 5 minutes walking at a steady pace. I really think you will do just fine there.
