I just returned from CBR on Saturday. They were installing poles of some sort around the perimeter of the parking lot behind Jamaica. We were thinking it was for a tent of some sort?

Thanks for the update! I'm betting that they are setting up the Jamaica parking lot as their construction grouping area for lack of a better term. Here in Louisiana, we'd say that it was their "work shack"....the place that everybody went to check in and get their orders for the day, pick up equipment/tools, etc. Sounds like that there's a good possibility that the work will start in Jamaica but I could be wrong.

I'll be there at around 10am on Friday. We aren't doing a park that day so I plan on doing some snooping around LOL! I will let you all know what I find ASAP and take some pictures but I'm not sure how to post pics from my phone. I won't have my laptop with me.

Make sure you look in the Jamaica area, the parking lot/building area furthest from the bridge to Old Port Royale. That is where I saw the staging area going up. The construction workers were actually putting up fencing around the back parking lot which I assume is where the equipment and supplies will be stored during construction. What I thought was also construction in Aruba was actually the dismantling of a tent for the sports and cheerleading groups that were there.

I am soooooo missing CBR right now!!!!!

We were in building 41 because it was the only building that had ready rooms at 10am when we checked in. I had checked that option during online check in that a ready room was a request over any other requests. We had a rental car so I wasn't as concerned about being far away from Old Port Royale or not being near a bus stop so we just took the ready room. It was so quiet and peaceful in that building. The CM that checked us in certainly saw our other online requests because he made sure it was okay with us that the ready room was not a corner room like we had requested before confirming. He said that building 41 was the least requested building and that it usually always had ready rooms for those that checked in really early.

"Staging area" sounds so much better than my "work shack" reference. :lmao:

LOL! I work in a building that recently went through renovations and that is what they called it. :) I wanted to take pictures but it rained our last two days so I didn't want to stand out there taking photos while getting drenched. But hopefully someone there this week will find out for sure what is going on.

Can you tell that I've been around folks who do construction work? That's probably how I knew "work shack". Glad to know that I'm not the only person who has heard that reference before. :thumbsup2

I have been reading the last few pages and I want to make sure of something..

The refurbs: are they adding the murphy beds like POR?

OR

Are they adding queen beds?

The only thing holding us back from changing our Nov reservations are those double beds. Hubby is 6'2" and takes up a good portion.

Thanks everyone!!

I don't know about the Murphy beds (rumoured to be) but it has been said Queen beds are going in.

I was told that they would be getting queen beds when the refurb was started. As far as the murphy type beds go, there's been no confirmation. First mention of them was made after someone posted pictures of the "mock" room which had a dresser that looked like it contained a pull down type bed inside.

We requested Jamaica and we leave for our trip next Tuesday morning May 13th. If they are starting the work in Jamaica they will not have it done in time should we change our request to Aruba?

Mickeystoontown you are soooo lucky!!! It looks as if your trip we be during the opening on the new ride at MK in FantasyLand. Did you manage to get FP+ for it?

If you want to, but I wouldn't. They normally work on one building at a time and don't put any guests in that building. So you won't be bothered by any noise or anything.

do buses go to every resort or do we have to change, want to make adrs but wondering how long it will take us getting to ohana?

There are no buses that go from resort to resort. You have a couple options to go from CBR to 'Ohana:

Bus from CBR to MK then monorail to Poly.
Bus from CBR to MK then boat to Poly.
Taxi from CBR to Poly.

For the 2 bus options, I would allow 70-90 minutes. For the taxi, it would be about 18-20 minutes.

Thank you! For some reason I wa thinking of Jamica as a whole instead of several buildings. I will keep my original request then. I plan on calling tomorrow just to make sure they still have our requests.

You're welcome. There are 6 buildings in Jamaica.

Yep! I was able to get Fastpasses for May 28th, it's opening day and one for our third day at the Magic Kingdom. I'm super excited to see it and ride it!
