Thanks for all the great info in this thread!

I have a question I hope you all can help me with in regards to transportation, specifically bus service at this resort. DH HATES the buses. So I am trying to decide for the same amount of money if I should book a preferred room here to be close to the food court (free dining) and pool, or rent a car? My kids are 5 and 8 and we'll spend a lot of time there, plus we will be there with free dining, so likely to eat at the food court a few times. I want to book preferred, but I need reassurance that the bus situation is decent. If not, I'd rather walk a little and make DH happy riding in a car to the parks!

Any thoughts?

This thread is great! We just booked CBR for Dec. I haven't been to CBR since '96 when I was with my family and I'm excited to see it now. Our last two trips have been to WL but we wanted to try a moderate to save some money. I hope DH likes it!

If DH really hates the buses that much, just rent the car. Even from the farthest buildings, it is not that long of a walk to OPR (pool & food court). To get closer, though, you may want to request Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51 with a standard room reservation.

If you are taking a bus to MK, it is a 5 minute walk to CR. It would take longer on the monorail.

We just returned from 10 days at CBR. It was our first time there and we went with an open mind, first the Positives...
beautiful scenery
kids loved the pool play area although main slide was down for rehab
great food court, food was hot and good, never waited
loved the Jimmy Buffet and Carribbean music piped in all over the resort
Why we will NEVER stay there again...
the worst bus service returning from parks at night of all resorts and the farthest walk to the bus stop of all resorts...it was almost comical CBR line was the longest and has the fewest buses...and this was during one of the slowest weeks of the year, I cannot imagine during peak season...at check out I spoke with the manager and he agreed and said this is an issue that is brought up all the time but the fix is not quick and it is brought up at round table all the time
We were in Martinique-got a free upgrade but our room was filthy, I spent an hour cleaning when we arrived, dust all over the headboards that looked like it had been there for years...mold all over the bathroom door and shower...just filthy dirt and mold even all around the wallpaper border, housekeeping was pathetic, no towel animals, all they did was make up the bed and provide towels... every other Disney resort I have stayed at was so much better than this...
Someone spilled Goldfish all over the stars the 2d day we were there and they were still there 3 mornings later... finally I called the front desk and they were cleaned up by the next morning, also gum was everywhere on the walkway to our room, disney used to wash these and clean that up.
The walk to the pool and food court was too much for the kids, 4 and 7, it may not be a problem for some but not our cup of tea at all... when on vacation we want convenience.
Again if you are not a clean freak and you don't mind a lot of walking and waiting on buses you will not be disappointed.

Oh no!! We are staying there for the first time in December and hope this will not be the case!!! Surely you just were there on a freak week or something. Someone please tell me we are not making a mistake not staying@ Pop!

I know for a fact that CBR isn't the last bus, well at least most parks, because Pop always is. It's always a running joke in our family as to where to find the Pop bus stop. Just go to the last one and it's usually there. :lmao: I think CBR is usually the second to last though. Pop has always had really l9ong lins for buses too at the end of hte day, but they do double up on buses then for the most part.

As for the dirty room. You should've called and had it taken care of. There is no reason that you should've done the cleaning. It sounds like that you were a standard room upgraded to a preferred? Which should be closer to the food court right? So it sounds like your family just doesn't like walking distances and you will always need to book preferred and ask to be as close as possible. Some resorts are spread out more than others, and I have looked at CBR maps, and that is one reason I haven't yet gone there. It just looks so much bigger than Pop, which is what we are used to, and we know we love it. But I really do like the theming of CBR, so maybe one day we'll take the plunge.

Oh dear, I would have went to the front desk and had someone up to clean that room for you!!!

I won't do mold anywhere.

I am concerned about the bus issues too, but not worried about the walk to the depot, as we are used to walking all the way to the Pop one also. We usually stay at BWV, but often when we do, we rarely need to take a bus since we monorail or walk to most things.

We're thinking of doing more driving to parks this trip due to the fact that we've never had great experiences with buses from any parks. We'll still take a bus to MK, but the others may be car trips. WDW does a great job, but I mostly just hate standing on a bus, especially with children. I dont' think I've ever had someone offer my kids a seat.
